NFLPA NARROWS THE FIELD
Posted by Mike Florio on December 26, 2008, 3:00 p.m.
On Thursday, Mark Maske of the Washington Post reported that the NFL Players Association has trimmed the field of potential Executive Director candidates to fewer than ten.

Per the Post, the finalists include former NFL players Troy Vincent, Trace Armstrong, and Mike Kenn, as well as lawyer David Cornwell.

The next step in the process reportedly will involve interviews of the candidates by the union’s executive committee. Thereafter, the field will again be reduced.

A new Executive Director likely will be named in March. Unless a new collective bargaining agreement is negotiated before then, the current CBA will enter the last capped year.

An uncapped year will commence in 2010. Former NFLPA Executive Director Gene Upshaw, who died in August, said on multiple occasions that, if the salary cap disappears, the union will not agree to its return.

That said, it’s important for the players to remember that, with no salary cap, there also will be no salary floor. Also, only players with six years of service will be eligible for unrestricted free agency in 2010.

We had our best years when there was no salary cap so how do you think no salary cap could effect our team in the near future?

We will get creamed. And you can thank Jerry Jones - he's actively fighting against a cap.

Jerry Jones' team isn't looking as good as they should be with all the talent they've got? They look like the Yankees, they throw the farm at everyone but don't get what they pay for in return. Same goes for the 'Skins.
