Im afraid to get rid of Dick Jauron. Look at this interview and look at Lynchs reaction to when Kelly mentions Dick.

Edwards imo is at the very least simply a lateral move from Jauron.

He's being paid 2+ mil a year. just got the raise too.

He's said repeatedly he doesn't think he's "ready" to be an nfl head coach.

I doubt he'll be available.

A good debate for sure, but the fact you had to preface this thread with "NO COWHER TALK ALOUD" (or allowed, whichever) should tell you what kind of base we are dealing with here.

Devin
12-29-2008, 03:49 AM
Wow talk about a brain fart, I got that word all wrong didnt I.

Anyway yeah Cowher imo is a pipe dream so I figured we'd try for people we have a chance at.

Doesnt matter im sure we will end up with the Vikings WR coach or something.

Dujek
12-29-2008, 03:59 AM
Brian Billick. I'm half way through reading Next Man Up, and the guy knows what it takes to be a winner. He wouldn't be cheap, but I think you could end up paying more money and get a worse coach.

He's also not afraid to talk to the fans or press and seems quite prepared to give a straight answer and an honest opinion about the team's performance.

Yeah I kind of already figure us going after a guy like that. Then youll get "well he coached great in that one game against that team on an odd day in an even year......he can turn it around!"

I swear if we end up with some nobody coordinator or some re-tread........AGAIN.....im gonna have a stroke.

No Ralph, hiring the RB coach from the Bengals is not gonna fix our offense or team. So don't.

I will say this: I think Josh McDaniels is going to make a solid HC some day. He is young, prepared and has experience in the front office, coaching defense and coordinating on offense. He is a very good play-caller and is organized. He is a coaches son who seems to have a good relationship with his players.

McDaniels will be the most successful assistant Belichick had that has gone on to other things. I don't think he would go to the Bills, because he probably will want to go out of division after the Mangini fiasco. He will have options.

I also wouldnt mind bringing in Cameron as the HC. I think he got a raw deal in Miami and in Baltimore he is again proving why he is a genius offensive mind.

What has Morris done though to deserve to jump to coordinator ranks and go straight to a HC?

I like the work he's done with Aqib Talib and Jermaine Phillips, but alot of the success of their DB's was predicated on Kiffin's Tampa 2 schemes.

I'm kinda leaning towards an offensive minded coach . We haven't had a decent O since Kelly left.

I know we have the talent to run. I want a coach who knows when to run and when to mix things up. I want a potent O and get some excitment once again. No more conservative , play not to lose type of O.

I beleive he's just a natural leader. He has worked under Kiffin and Tomlin in Tampa where the D has been ranked in the top 10 for how many years now. Kiffins tampa 2 scheme is a big part of that ofcourse however he has done a great job of coaching it to his players.

I agree with you that it would be nice if he had more experience being a coordinator in the NFL before he makes the jump to HC but I beleive he's going be a very succesful HC when he gets a job.

Shotty is better despite the lack of a ring (which is suprisingly not an issue to many fans)... But Billick would be cheaper, is younger, and actually has a ring.

X-Era
12-29-2008, 09:56 AM
Billick- less money, has a SB ring, is young, and is a motivator, will command player respect

Shotty- no ring, older, will want more money

Cowher- will want a ton of money, but has a ring, younger, and is a motivator

Newbies- cheaper, mostly younger, no experience, cannot command respect day one from the players

NFC South and AFC North were two extremely tough conferences this year. NFC South was a hell of a lot harder then the AFC East this season.

PECKERWOOD

Mangini
Billick
McDaniels

Those are my top 3, Mangini would be the best hire, IMO. He is still young, he did pretty good in NY with what he had. He knows alot about our divisional rivals, plus he has spent time in the division, he knows how the AFCE works.. Mangini all the way. If you want to go with a 1st timer McDaniels would be an excellent choice as well because we would be stealing him from the Patriots and plus he has done well with New England this year. Overall, I like Mangini the best, Billick 2nd, and McDaniels lastly. One more thing about Mangini! You know deep down inside he wants to stick it to the Patriots and Jets really hard and that hatred and meaness towards divisional rivals is exactly what we need right now. 0-6 in the division is UNACCEPTABLE, that's beyond mediocrity and in the ranks of futility. Mangini learned at the Jets expense, he is a coach that could be here for the next decade if everything works out. I'm officially on the Mangini bandwagon.

Plus, BRING IN SOMEBODY WHO WILL RUN THE 3-4 PLEASE. I'M SO FUGGIN SICK OF THIS COVER 2 GARBAGE. 3-4 3-4 3-4 3-4 3-4 3-4
