This is my fav Wilson quote so far today in his decision to retain our staff.

Wilson added, "I believe in the last few years we have gotten close personnel wise and look forward to another strong draft, more assertive veteran leadership and continued improvement from our young quarterback."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Umm.. Ok.
Close personnel wise.. DOes that mean your top personnel guy in John Guy? The same guy that has evaluated such free agents standouts over the past few years as Derrick Dockery, Melvin Fowler, Robert Royal, Tutan Reyes and Craig Nall (who got a $1.3 signing bonus as a #3 QB, LOL)

"Another strong draft?"
You mean like this year, we're our second round WR had all of 9 catches, while the very next pick, also a WR finished third in the NFL ROY voting (Eddie ROyal)? OR do you mean that stud third round pass rush specialist Chris Ellis? LOL, OK-- maybe they're not bums, but I wouldnt go calling it a strong draft class when aside from McKelvin they've sucked.

Or did you mean that 2006 studfest, with that 8th overall safety pick, who's had all of 1 sack and 2 INT in three years? Or trading up for that defensive tackle that became untradable by midway through the season? How about that third round corner? Ralphie, YOU'VE been healthier than him. Then again.

Assertive Leadership? You mean the guy who guarenteed the playoffs then backed it up by highlighting his season with a tackle of a RAider WR halfway down the tunnel? Or that LB from a Super Bowl winner, who promptly came to Buffalo, made a big play here and there but for the most part ran around and tackled like he had **** stuck in his pants?

Please.. If you want to be cheap, that's fine.. But dont insult knowledgeable fans.

Yeah, we're right on the cusp of greatness with our keen Personnel, Scouting and Coaching staffs!! Get em, Ralphie!

Not to defend Ralph but I think our O-line is ions better than a few yeards ago. I wouldn't call Edwards, Stroud, Lynch, Johnson, Williams, Butler, Jackson, and McKelvin busts.

no, I call them 8 out of 53 players.. Plus, Stroud and Jackson were not draft picks and the fact that Kyle Williams and Brad Butler not only start for this team but get extensions tell you why we're a 6-7 win team.

Our OL is not "ions" better than a few years ago.. Look at the stats.. We were middle-lower of the pack in everything then, and we still are.

Willis McGAhee and Travis Henry may be jokes now, but they ran for as much (actually more) yards behind OL's that were "ions" worse than our current line.

And BTW, the best member of the OL, Jason Peters is actually a Donahoe guy, as is Lee Evans and JOsh Reed on the offense.. Pretty sad aint it?

The last three years, since the "Marv is our mouthpeice" era have begun, have been NO BETTER THAN before.

BINGO BUDDY.

This is why my biggest beef is with the talent evaluators and why I think that no matter what HC you bring in, won't succeed.

Are there better coaches than Dicky? Obviously. But with our talent level and our typical offseasons of mediocrity, it won't make a difference who the coach is.

I'm not saying the Bills are great or Jauron deserved to stay. But seriously how long did it take Jeff Fisher to get his act together in TN?

I also saw Miami's O-line develop while having a 1-15 season. Things do take some time.

Wilson is saying we are closer than we were 3 years ago. I believe this. It's on the FO to deliver so I give them til April to make me a believer.

If they do nothing significant between now and the end of the draft I permanately become a Falcons fan.

If you all want to believe its talent then look no further at Dallas. You put a good coach there and they are a playoff team let alone a superbowl team.

Dude, we've gone over this...that team fades every December and has ever since Barry Switzer left.

You do realize even Tuna couldn't win in the playoffs there?

The Cowboys aren't a team, they are a collection of individuals who care only of themselves.

The leery part of this post is the section, of the quote, where Ralph said "We are close personnel wise" because if he is deluding himself, this team has NO HOPE for 2009. At a minimum, we need legit starters at #2WR, TE, C, ORG on offense, and SOLB, DE, FS and DT on defense. THAT is a lot of personnel he is overlooking! We could live with Butler at OG and Simpson at FS and maybe we could get by at DT, but the lack of playmakers at the other positions of need, and the Buffalo Bills are cooked next year. It is simple really, if they do NOT upgrade a half a dozen positions and move out the dead weight, the cellar is going to be a familiar place for the next 3 or 4 years.

I don't think Ralph honestly believes the words that came out of his mouth.

I believe the statement was just a PR one to try and ease the fan base. I'm willing to bet the real reason DJ is still around is a money one. Ralph doesn't want to eat the whole 3 years of the extension he gave him earlier in the year.

That said, I'm with FTY on this the main problem lies with the personel making the talent decisions and those responsible for handing DJ an extension that early in the season...namely the person in my avatar.

I've known since he threw an F-bomb at reporters outside a People's Express gate at the airport back in the early 1980s.

I see it too. He's a money hungry, piece of **** that doesn't care about Buffalo and only cares about lining his pockets and his family's pockets. He can go to hell!
