Take a look at the division.
NE - Belicheck isn't going anywhere. He could be there for 10 or more years. There is even talk of trading Brady. NE could be good until 2020.
Miami - Parcells took that team from 1-15 to 11-5. He is getting paid to be a "guru". AND, he won the division in his first year and really stuck it to Belicheck. Don't you think he would love to play that chess game for the next ten years? Miami could be good until 2020.
NYJ - Interesting stuff here. The Jets are going to get a new stadium and lots and lots of money. There is talk of Cowher but barring that there could be a real high profile coach that would just kill to get in there (i.e., Shanahan?). With the money and the right coach the Jets could be good until 2020.
So, RW sits back and looks at that and says, "1) We aren't making the playoffs anytime soon, 2) The fans know they can't stop buying tickets or we can cite the lack of fanbase and move and 3) we'll market the teams 50th anniversary and we won't have to have anything else.
Hence, no reason to get better. Keep Dick.
