During the last two games, the announcers were talking about getting the one timer to Kotalik on the PP. This play has gotten way too predictable.
The Sabres put two guys on the blue line, Kotalik along the left dasher since he's right-handed, about halfway between the blue line and the goal, one guy down low by the net, and one guy by the right face-off point.
They pass the puck around a few times. The blue liner on the left passes it to the point man and heads to the right, so the point man comes to the middle of the ice, fakes the shot, then passes to Kotalik for the one-timer.
It's a great play WHEN YOU DON'T RUN IT EVERY ****ING GAME. The Islanders simply stayed in the passing lane so they couldn't get the puck to Kotalik. The Caps put someone up high to make sure the point man couldn't shoot, then let the goalie read the play to Kotalik and come up with the save.
They need to get more creative on the PP because everyone in the league has this play scouted by now.
