George Selvie*
http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/48/486027.jpg

Height: 6'4
Weight: 252
40: 4.72

Pros:
-Speed
-Pass Rush
-Versatile
-Upside

Cons:
-Raw
-One Dimensional
-One Pass Rush Move
-Bites on Fakes

Overall:
Selvie may have the second biggest ceiling among DE's this year. He's got a great body to add on some more weight and become a true 4-3 RDE, or to stay at his current weight and be a stand up 3-4 OLB. Personally I feel like the 3-4 is a better fit for Selvie given his skill set at this moment. He's a better speed pass rushers where he beats his man on the outside, in fact he really lacks any other kind of pass rush move, so thats the biggest reason I see him as a stand up 3-4 OLB. Selvie does not excel against the run and is often targeted on misdirections because he does not stay home and will over pursue. All the negatives that are being said though he has only been a DE for 3 years and his production speaks for itself. He is a big time boom or bust prospect in my eyes.

Stats:
2008-43 Tackles, 13.5 TFL, 5.5 Sacks, 5 PD, 1 FF
2007-48 Tackles, 31.5 TFL, 14.5 Sacks, 3 DD, 9 QBH, 1 Block
2006-64 Tackles, 15 TFL, 5.5 Sacks, 3 FF
Career-165 Tackles, 60 TFL, 25.5 Sacks, 5 PD, 7 FF, 9 QBH, 1 Block

Bowl Games:
2008-1 Tackle, 1 TFL v. Memphis
2007-.5 Tackle v. Oregon
2006-8 Tackles, 3 TFL v. ECU

*Junior Eligible DE, NOT DECLARED

I like him.

He has better heart than some of the other prospects, but he also can just disappear alot.

I think hes a better prospect than Chris Ellis was, but hes not a 1st rounder IMO.

He has slick moves, but he just isnt built strong enouigh and could get manhandled by the bigger tackles. Unlike a guy like Freeney, he doesnt have enough speed, and athleticism to compensate.

For a pro you have "versatile", but for a con you have "one dimensional". Those seem to contradict each other. Can you explain?

Ya know what really strikes me this year? It really seems like there will be some talent at DE available in the 2nd round. I'm looking at names like Hardy, Selvie, Barwin, Jackson and Shaughnessy. I think that we maybe able to go BPA with the 1st pick.

Hes smart!

He could easily show everyone just how good he is... right now he would have been a 2nd rounder, or maybe even 3rd IMO.

You should change the title to OLB/DE George Selvie... might as well spread the "love".

Just a thought... maybe we could simply "label" the player with the position that they played in college and let the team that drafts them decide what to make them.

Kinda would defeat the point of it being my evaluation then wouldn't it? We don't have access to the NFL teams reports and plenty of people disagree from time to time and they don't resort to tactics like this, if you don't like my evaluation you don't have to read it. I dont know what to tell you, we disagree, I think its about time to move on, dont you?

Huh?

Tactics?

You give me too much credit... theres nothing malicious here.

I think it really doesnt matter much, posters here will find plenty of material on draft picks to form an opinion. Theres plenty of reliable resources.

Im not going to continue on with this cat and mouse game with you. I know you like Brown and can find no fault with him but faults with every other DE. We've been over this a number of times. Is there really a reason to bring it up in other threads now? If you have an issue with me calling Brown an OLB/DE then why not bring it up in the Brown thread? Why do you see the need to resurrect a thread about a guy who will be in the 2010 Draft class and not the 2009 one?

Decent point.

It seems that maybe a bit of softening in our stances could go a long way.

Im all for that!

Again, id like to thank you for taking the time to do the amount of work you do. It IS appreciated.

Love what DB has to say and I love disagreeing with him from time to time. Let me say this, I may not be the most informed poster on this board but I've been pretty damn accurate with some of the players that I wanted the Bills to draft. I will say that my gut feeling has served me pretty well, obviously you guys see me in the draft section alot too and ofcourse I'm reading up on these guys on other sites and the ones that I truly like I've watched play. FLA, ND, PSU, OSU, tha U and FSU are teams that I look for their games on each Saturday.. I'm the type of cat who has all the games on my tv and I flip back and forth inbetween commercial breaks. In the end, you learn to trust people's opinions here based off of your relationship with them and the opinions that they've given you in the past. On Selvie? It honestly doesn't matter anymore.. I didn't catch too many of his games but if we drafted him, I hope that it would be as a DE.
