View Full Version : So, what are you doing with your season ticket money?

Okay, realistically speaking many who say they are ditching their season tickets will probably retain them. I'm not going to pile on if you do. There's plenty of threads debating this already. But for those who are going to sack up and ditch the tickets, those who have simply had enough, what are you going to do with the money you save?

Who gives a ****.

I like watching NFL football live and this and the next couple years might be my last chance. I am not going to worry about proving some non existant point others think they are making.

If you don't want to go to the games anymore than it is up to you and you alone.

I'm pissed at Ralph about the Toronto fiasco and his decison to hold onto the team. As a fan, I see it like this: the jury's still out on Trent Edwards. He will either make Dick Jauron (and by extension Ralph Wilson) look either good or bad depending on if he's the 5-1 Trent or the rest of the year Trent that emerges as the "real" TE. I'm willing to wait and hope we draft a DE in the 1st round and a TE in the 2nd- with a few more of the right pieces we could be pretty fun to watch ASSUMING TE doesn't suck and I honestly don't know.

But getting back to Toronto. That was a sellout by Ralph and to make it the fins game is just wrong on so many levels, it still makes me sick just thinking about it. Ralph knows what the Bills mean to Buffalo but he won't sell the team to a local group now which to me is flat out selfish. His family will be ridiculously rich either way so I'm not buying the "it's his right" BS. Ralph's made millions off the Bills- it's time to sell out the team not the fans. I don't live nearby anymore but if I did I'd have/keep my season's. The Bills are one of the best bargains in Pro Sports. Tickets are reasonable, parking is reasonable, stadium is good, fans are great, team is....where was I...

Ralph has made millions off the Bills. Ralph has made millions off the fans through merchandising and ticket sales and we re-pay his gratitude of keeping an NFL franchise in Orchard Park with loyalty. Do you think Ralph has the same loyalty and commitment to the fans as we do to the club?....not on your ****ing life, my friend.

The money I save by not going to the game in Toronto, I'm putting towards my 2009-10 playoff tickets. It won't be enough for my Super Bowl ticket, but I'm getting one at $42.80 over face value if the Bills get in, so I'll be able to afford that game too.

Without the fans the Buffalo Bills will be the Toronto **********s. I dont give a **** if you dont like Ralph. Most people hated George Bush but they still loved this country. Same thing ****heads. If you wanna give up on the Bills like some fans have then go *** yourself. If you wanna go to games like Randy Quaid in Major League 2 then so be it, just dont come back when we start winning. Wah wah wah Ralph kept Jauron, well the Giants kept Coughlin when everyone wanted his head and he won a ****ing Super Bowl. So if you wanna throw away money that was getting used on season tickets go ahead, but dont do it in front of me because bad things will happen.

If you give up on the Bills then you should get punched in your pussy ass face. I dont give a ****.

This thread turned into exactly what I didn't want it too. Unavoidable I guess. There is a lot of passion on both sides and I understand it. Bottom line is both sides care, which I think is a good time. I think a lot of folks care way too much, but no one can ever question Buffalo sports fans in the passion department.

With that said, this whole argument of "I want the Bills to stay in Buffalo so I will keep going if they suck" is pretty ridiculous. The hostage situation Ralph is pulling by stating what he has in the past won't work if he actually sells the team. I personally think its mostly for show. It's a ploy that has clearly worked given the fear in some of these statements. But folks here are some facts on why they will stay: Buffalo is not the only small market team, nor the only team belonging to a city with a poor population. Also, Jimbo has stated publicly that he and his investors will buy the team when its for sale, vowing to keep it in Buffalo. Another point is the fact all of Ralph's whining to this point has gotten the attention of NY politicians and Roger Goodell. I'm not naive enough to say it couldn't happen, but I don't think its an inevitability like some think.

Go or don't go, it is your choice and right as a consumer. I feel stupid because I was after a humorous thread. Ho hum.

Ooohhh, so many asterisks. Comparing our country's politics and a freaking football team shows how much of a 3 asterisk word you are. As does comparing the Giants situation last off season and the Bills.

I don't think everyone who stops buying tickets is "giving up". It's a tough time financially. So by your logic, if you don't go to Bills games and just maybe buy a jersey and watch it on the tube, you're not a fan?

Let me guess, you're the tough guy who will be doing the punching? Doubtful.

You do get points for a Major League reference though.

Why should I spend a dime on an organization that doesn't give two ****ing ****s about winning. When I see they care about what us as the fans want, then I'll consider giving them a dime or two. Keep settling for mediocrity, keep giving them your hard earned cash while you're just bombarded with let down after let down.

the fact remains that if you are displeased the only thing you have to show your displeasure is a boycott...

otherwise Ralph is just laughing at us.

and really who cares if nobody buys Bills tickets the next few years... What's Ralph gonna do ? Sell the team to the highest bidder... He's gonna do that anyway. AND since he is 90 now that reality is pretty close at hand either way.

any potential new Buffalo ownership team would easily know that the fans were disgusted with Ralphs lack of investment back into the team and would come back in heart beat.

I agree to some extent but you know that most buyers of the team will want to move them. While they may realize the fans would come back with a winning team they could easily use this when making their case to the league. "Look the fans aren't even supporting the team. Lets move them to (incert city name)" Where on the other hand if we continue to sell out the argument is far less compelling and in fact the exact opposite. "Look at Buffalo, They have had a terrible team for a decade and still support their team" While this may not be able to stop the move why make it easy for the new owner??? I realize we are being screwed over but it will be over soon one way or another.

and that begs the question...so you are OK with supporting a guaranteed loser? You don't mind shelling out those $$ with zero commitment to winning and the fact that you are being held hostage by RW and the NFL? I'm not truly certain this is the case (only about 85%) but if someone said that's the way it surely is:

1) the bills are always going to be bottom feeders because no one will spend the $$ to make them better.
2) the team will leave if we don't keep pumping in our hard earned $$.

I'd say let them all go screw themselves and the team can go to Toronto or wherever. Do you really want to be a fan of a loser all your life?

Where is the team going to move ? You have to have an NFL ready stadium in place with X amount of club seats, suites and a certain capacity.

Right now, no one is ready so quit waving the broad brush. If anything the NFL will shrink to 24 teams to be more economically thrifty. No more revenue sharing to the smaller market teams.

My decision on whether to renew tickets or not doesn't mean a damn thing in that grand formula. If WNY's population continues to shrink and the cost of doing business in the NFL continues to rise, the ticket price ceiling gets maxed and the team goes out of business.

Typ0
01-09-2009, 10:19 AM
You can't honestly think the NFL is going to contract. If there are no other alternatives they'll try Europe with teams before they contract the league. There are other domestic markets that could support teams better than WNY...and a stadium being built might be a requirement but one in place isn't. They easily could say they are moving the team in three years after the stadium is built and leave it right here for that time.
