For our loyal readers, Wednesday's revelation that Seahawks president Bob Whitsitt is giving up his gig as the president/G.M. of NBA's Portland BailRazers evoked shrugs and yawns.
After all, folks who have frequented this here space knew more than three months ago that Whitsitt would walk from the Blazers, and that his impending move was affecting the search for a G.M. in Seattle.
As we reported on January 31, Whitsitt wanted the 'Hawks to hire a weak G.M., so that Whitsitt would still have some influence within Seahawks/Blazers owner Paul Allen's sports conglomerate. On this point, Whitsitt and coach Mike Holmgren were aligned, and they got their wish in G.M. Bob Ferguson, who'll take a far less firm grip on the reins than would have guys like Randy Mueller or Tom Modrak.
Memo to all you folks who still think we just make stuff up and hope it comes to pass: the blind squirrels are gnawing on a big, fat acorn this morning.
