Although Marlin Briscoe (Denver) was the first African American QB to start in pro football, Harris was the first one to actually start in a team's opening game of the season.Click to listen:

George Talliafero was the first NFL black QB...if you discount the APFA. 1950 with the NY Yanks.
I know the NFL loves to disregard stats and players from pre-merger though.
Sidenote on Briscoe...he actually became a Bill after his stint with Denver at QB, where we turned him into a WR.Comment
