University of Alabama football fans will be glad to know that Mike Shula's big idea for fun on the road is to watch movies on the DVD player he totes around.

Alabama confirmed Thursday night that Shula has been signed as the next head coach for the Crimson Tide following the firing of coach Mike Price for his off-the-field behavior.

Shula agreed to terms on a six-year contract worth $900,000 per year, athletic director Mal Moore announced as the school tries to stem the flow of embarrassing reports regarding Price, who was dismissed Saturday.

''It was that mix of enthusiasm, experience and ties to the University of Alabama that made Mike the perfect fit for this job,'' Moore said in a statement. ``We talked with Mike on Wednesday night and he was able to reach a decision quickly. We are obviously excited to have Mike on board.''

Dolphins defensive end Adewale Ogunleye said he hasn't considered whether he will hold out when training camp begins in July. He said he hopes he and the team will agree on a deal that will include incentives for the coming season.

''I'm not thinking that way at this point,'' said Ogunleye, who had 9 ½ sacks last season, his first as a starter. ``I don't think it's anything that can't be accomplished quickly. . . . In the big picture, the amount of money we're talking about is really peanuts compared to the overall salary cap.''

Ogunleye has been tendered a one-year contract worth $375,000 for the upcoming season, his third. An exclusive-rights player, he can't negotiate with another team. If he does not sign a long-term deal before the end of the season, he will become a restricted free agent.

Ogunleye, who has declined to sign the one-year tender, hadn't been allowed to participate in workouts until last weekend's minicamp.

DAVIE -- With Mike Shula officially leaving to take over the football program at Alabama, the Dolphins won't necessarily get a new quarterbacks coach to replace him.

At least three NFL offensive coordinators also coach the quarterbacks, and Dolphins offensive coordinator Norv Turner held both jobs with the Dallas Cowboys from 1991-93. Turner said Thursday he's up for doing it again if Dolphins coach Dave Wannstedt agrees.

"My approach right now is until Coach [Wannstedt] tells me something different I am going to coach the quarterbacks," said Turner, who also holds the title of assistant head coach.

Alabama hired Shula, a former all-SEC quarterback for the school, as the successor to Mike Price late Thursday.
