Patriots lose Licht to Eagles
he Patriots will have to shuffle their scouting staff after assistant director of player personnel Jason Licht submitted his resignation to pursue a similar position with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Licht's departure, first reported in the Globe April 27, was also reported in yesterday's editions of the Trenton (N.J.) Times, which cited Eagles sources who said Licht's hiring would be made official sometime next week. Licht, 32, considered one of the up-and-coming personnel men in the NFL, joined the Patriots June 1, 1999, putting him in place prior to the Scott Pioli-Bill Belichick regime.
Lionel Vital, the Patriots' assistant director of college scouting, could be in line to replace Licht.
