    Texans release Williams, Thomas

The Texans trimmed their roster by two players Thursday, releasing free safety Kevin Williams and offensive tackle Tarlos Thomas.

Williams, one of the original 10 players signed by the team, also was released last season, only to be re-signed. He played in 13 games, mostly on special teams. The five-year veteran was a third-round draft pick of the Jets in 1998.

Thomas spent most of the 2002 season on the practice squad. He played in four preseason games for Philadelphia in 2001 and spent time on Tennessee's practice squad.
