Quarterback eager to take place at head of Broncos offense

School has been in session for Jake Plummer the past month and a half.
Now comes his first test: The Denver Broncos' new starting quarterback takes the field in a controlled, full-squad setting for the first time at the team's three-day mini-camp, which begins today.
Plummer has prepared rigorously for the weekend festivities. Almost from the moment he signed a free-agent contract March 5, he has been supplementing his conditioning work in the team's off-season program by meeting daily with the offensive coaching staff.
The group started by exploring Plummer's knowledge of the systems he ran in his previous six NFL seasons with the Arizona Cardinals; they compared that with the Broncos playbook, trying to gauge the overlap in offensive terminology and structure. The tape machine then rolled, and the teaching began.
