For two days, Cecil Sapp sat waiting for the phone call that never came. Seven rounds came and seven rounds went, but nobody drafted the Colorado State running back.

This morning, when the Denver Broncos report to their Dove Valley headquarters for the first day of minicamp, Sapp will step onto the field as an undrafted rookie free agent.

Despite running for 1,061 yards for Colorado State last season, running back Cecil Sapp didn't get a call on draft day.
He'll begin his professional career knowing this: Despite a CSU season-record 1,601 rushing yards last year, 23 running backs were drafted, but he was not. The Broncos selected Oklahoma's diminutive Quentin Griffin in the fourth round and Alabama's Ahmaad Galloway in Round 7, despite the fact Galloway missed most of his senior season because of a serious knee injury.

Sapp arrives with a lot to prove and a chip on his shoulder pads.
