All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!

I don't want to sound like I am defending everything, but before losing the two games they had won 4 in a row and are 5-2 in January.
How the hell is that giving up?????
They've been much better since the two losses to the Caps, but they've dug themselves into a hole. They don't hit, they give up points against conf teams, they don't fight or stick up for each other... they're just soft.
Half these guys were on a Cinderella team followed by a dominant team, so they're not used to the struggle. The rest are just young and inexperienced. It's not a good mix.
Every time looks like this team is about to turn it around, they blow it. They started hot then went through a major slump. They had a 5-2-2 stretch in Dec, then faltered twice against the Caps and had to go to OT to beat the Islanders. They win 4 straight, including a huge upset in Boston, then don't show up in Detroit and Chicago and barely got by Dallas with some 3rd period heroics. Don't get me wrong- that game was fun to watch and I got into it more than I have in a long time, but it doesn't bode well for the future.
I think this game is a HUGE test for this team (hence my earlier thread), and so far this team has failed every test except the Boston game.

The inconsistency is what you will see all year. They will go on hot runs and then a cold one. Likely ending in a finish of between 7-10 in the East.
I actually agree with Bucky Gleason (Ack!) They will squeak in this year, and in two years be a damn dangerous team. When they get Butler, Weber, Sekera and Myers all playing on defense, they will be damn solid.

That is the one positive I see from this team. They are getting contributions from a bunch of young guys like Sekera, Vanek, Stafford, MacArthur, etc who will only get better, and they have a bunch of prospects like Gerbe, Kennedy, Gragnani and Myers waiting to come up. They just need to cut some of the dead weight, but they can't do it until these guys are ready.
