Bryant McKinnie heard it all -- on television, in newspapers, from strangers who approached while he tried to escape on a Miami beach. On one particularly trying day, his own mother urged him to fire his agents and end a nasty contract holdout.
"But when I believe in something," McKinnie said, "I stick with it."
Whether he develops into a Hall of Fame offensive tackle or the biggest flop in NFL history, McKinnie will always bear a scarlet letter 'H' on his chest. He will wear the tag proudly -- convinced his 98-day holdout was justified and morally necessary, even as he prepares for his first full season with the Vikings.
