As you skim over the potential free agents to add to your wish list when the annual NFL shopping spree sets off on February 27, bear in mind it’s a list that will see some significant changes. While some goods will come off the shelf before they can be sold via the franchise tag, there will undoubtedly be new items not currently advertised around the league with shiny new sticker prices on them. How do you figure Ko Simpson saves a million?

It is nowhere close to that number. It is closer to half a million.

I think you should add a few players to the cut list personally but i dont think we will.....

Per our cap expert (Who BTW, I DID list as a credit on that, and that better get fixed)

"Simpson has 1 yr remaining at $530,000 but that is likely to increase due to PT incentives built into nearly every rookie contract last year. It's likely to be equal to the RFA 1st rd tender (~ $1.5 to 2 million....not sure what it is yet). Cap savings will be his 2009 salary - remaining amortization of $116,250"

I hope they try shopping some players aorund before just letting them walk. A 7th rd pick is better then nothing

I think Royal is the only one who may get cut, but then again he may not.
I agree that these 4 guys are awful but I think McCargo will get traded for something if not held onto until camp. Same with Ko Simpson. I believe you can get some kind of pick for these guys.

I think Royal stays for now unless we sign someone the first couple days of Free Agency. (Like Tripplett last year, only cut when we had Spencer Johnson signed)

As bad as Kelsay has been, as a defensive captain, I believe he stays.

i think mccargo's name is mudd in the nfl. after the trade debacle.

last year before the season, there was an ominous article about how mccargo was too heavy during otc's. and some of us even said, it sounds like his heart is out of hte game.

if they cut him, i don't see any teams running to get him.

I think Kelsay stays due to lack of options. He should be on the chopping block due to his lackluster play, but we simply don't have enough bodies to play DE. It would be stupid to get rid of him without finding a replacement.

As much as I don't think Kelsay fits our 4-3 here, I agree that he stays.

Depending on what the Bills due in FA don't think for a moment that cutting Simpson and Royal to save 2 million dollars isn't an option.

Is Dansby really a FA?? If that's true than why hasn't his name been mentioned on this board?? What an adddition this guy would be.

I don't believe anybody will be cut on Feb 9...they are well under the cap...no reason to cut anybody unless they have a bonus payable on Feb 10

their opportunity to make a point was firing Jauron. They passed on it and sent the message that the status quo was good enough. Too late to change it now.

I would agree that it's a no brainer. Rememeber, the staff value's players on a different level than we do.. The feelings on Ryan Denney are positive when i feel he rarely penetrated to cause any disruption in the backfield..
--Ko Simpson has value because he plays slot CB whenever needed.. I can't say i've paid much attention to him since he was hurt his rook season..
---Royal was suppposed to be a blocking specialist right? If so then his dropsies at crucial times would explain that..

-#1 priority has to be to get Trent Edwards better short yardage weapons. Swap our Roscoe Parrish for another Josh Reed/clutch type. Roscoe will be missed BIG-TIME on PR's.
--Prototype pass catching FB as a option would help out alot. That is assuming we don't score a 2nd or 3rd round or FA stud TE.. WHich seems to be expected..

-curious- You guys think drafting BPA available pays off 2-4 years later? Did we really need a SS @11 bust or strive?

McCargo is gone, other than that, as :eb: stated, their is no need to release a player for cap reasons.

these guy are all low impact football players and would not care to see any of them get the axe in fact it would be nice to add some more names to this list.

You can only cut most of these guys after you get better players to replace them. You can't randomly cut your scrubs, you'll end up with even scrubbier players in some spots.

He's Ko Simpson and he's worth millions, at least that's what he tells the cops.

Cut the underacheivers and the non-performers to send the message. Is Kelsay living up to a 2nd round selection and his contract? Is Royal effective? Ko Simpson looked awful. Enough has been said on McCargo. Cut them all.
