The Kansas City Chiefs (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/kan/) don't have a head coach yet, but there are suggestions in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Boston</st1:place></st1:City> and the midwest that New England Patriots (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/nwe/) quarterback Matt Cassell could get plenty of attention from the Chiefs especially with Scott Pioli running the operation in KC.<o:p></o:p>
The Boston Herald suggests that the Chiefs could be <st1:place w:st="on">Cassel</st1:place>'s top suitor and that it makes sense he could further his career at Arrowhead Stadium. <o:p></o:p>
Meanhile, the Kansas City Star as suggested the Chiefs should at least consider trading their top draft pick for <st1:place w:st="on">Cassel</st1:place>, who will be cheaper, more experienced and more ready than any quarterback they'd pick in the draft.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
My reaction: Great!! Let’s give <st1:place w:st="on">New England</st1:place> the 3rd pick in the draft, plus their own first rounder. Curry would probably look good next to Mayo in a NE uniform, huh? Damn, I hope this doesn’t ever happen.<o:p></o:p>

How bout Brady throwing to Moss and Crabtree.... Wouldnt be surprised if they took Brian Orakpo in that spot either which would suck.

How many player shine in NE and then perform mediocre elsewhere? It has happened so many times. This is how they keep getting better. They have a great scouting department and then trade players and get way more than they are worth (does Deion Branch come to mind) and then stock pile picks.
The rich keep getting richer.
Heck in the Charlotte paper one guy suggested trading Peppers for Cassel.

Terrible trade for the Chiefs. Cassell will not be good outside New England.

There goes he is not worth the 11th pick theory.

Cassell isn't worth a top 15 pick...

Just because there is some speculation on doesn't mean it's true or the Chiefs would get good value on the deal.

They are talking Peppers for Cassell in Charlotte. Mostly local sports talk radio fodder i think. I dont want Peppers in the AFCE

Well I hope it doesnt happen.>that would SUCK for NE to get the 3rd pick in the draft.

NE's big run started with us trading them our first round pick for Bledsoe. Plenty of other teams have made the same mistake since then.

If other teams want NE's dominance to end, they have to STOP giving them free draft picks.

Don't they have about 15 other pressing needs on that team? He's not as bad a RJ, but he still hasn't done much overall and the Chiefs shouldn't be giving the Patriots the 3rd pick, AKA a trade for a later 1st, a 2nd, a 2nd next year....................

I dont think its a smart move. Take Crabtree in Round 1, Freeman in Round 2 and see what Thigpen brings to you next year while Freeman sits.

The Bills traded what turned out to be the 9th pick in the draft for Robosack.

Scott Pioli is not going to give up the 3rd pick in the draft for Cassel. More likely KC or Detroit offers their high 2nd for Cassel, plus a later pick like a 5th or 6th.

The day that KC gives NE its 3rd pick in the draft for a career backup is the day that I will laugh myself to death. Even if it benefits NE.

Guys, I bet many teams wouldnt give up the 3rd pick in the draft for Tom Brady much less Matt Cassel.

This is a farse of a story.

Some people around here think we could get 2 first round picks for Peters.

The only reason there are rumors is because Pioli used to work for the Pats. However Pioli never used a high pick on a QB when with the Pats. But he's so enamored with Cassel's mediocre stats that he's willing to give-up the 3rd overall pick, when his team has so many other holes it can plug with the 3rd pick (if not trading down), and Tyler Thigpen is no worse than Cassel? I don't see it.

Yeah, who do they pick though is the question. it seems they are better at finding good players in the bottom of the barrel

Why not keep Thigpen? Although KC also needs DE help, I think that Crabtree and & Bowe would be an excellent WR corps for a young QB to have.

Exactly. Look at Thigpen's season, despite not having the greatest offense in NFL history around him. They're as good as Cassel's. Adding a Crabtree would give Thigpen a supporting cast as good as Cassel's.

Cassell is not worth the 3rd pick in the draft, but knowing NE somebody would be willing ot part with a top 10 in a fool hearty move that does nothing but help NE's maintain dominance.

Exactly, someone wont be able to see past highlights and offer up a number of picks this year and probably next. NE will trade those for better picks and we will pick someone who is a reach that we could have gotten by trading down.

The kid hasnt played a down yet.

Do we remember Koren Robinson, David Terrel, Travis Taylor, Reggie Williams, Mike Williams, Charles Rogers?

I think its premature to talk about Crabtree with Randy Moss.

haha Theres no way they get the third pick in the draft for Cassell

If there getting a first rounder it will be a very late one at best and there best bet is a 2nd rounder especially if its the Chiefs

There are very few players in this league worth a top 5 pick and Cassell is definitely not one of them

With how well the Pats draft, would they even want the 3rd pick? I mean you're looking at a $50-60 million contract for a rookie.

They'd probably take it and then trade down and acquire a 1st Rounder next year or at least that was there MO under Pioli but now that he's in KC who knows what their going to do.

I meant the Chefs would draft Crabtree instead of trading the pick for a QB no better than Thigpen. But true, he's unproven. While Cassel is proven to be mediocre at best.
