Fisher: Rookies make progress in second day of orientation

(on what he saw on second day of rookie orientation)

Well, we did some better things today, and you expect to do better things huddle related, getting out of the huddle, getting off the ball, and those kinds of things. The offense was a little frustrated because we’re not in pads and the defense has the advantage, so they have to learn how to protect themselves. We learned some things. We put a lot of stuff in yesterday and today, and we’re going to put some more stuff in after lunch, come out and then we’ll finish up.

(on if R.J. Luke can help with long snapping)

First and foremost he’s going to have to earn his way onto the roster as a position player and a special teams player, and the long snapping aspect would be a bonus. We really have only one long snapper on the roster right now and that’s Tom Ackerman. We’re looking to see if we can put together a combination of players somehow, some way so that we have some depth there because Aaron Graham’s status is still uncertain.

(on Tyrone Calico’s second day performance)

He’s learning a lot. We’re a little thin at corner and the corners got tired -- we just had two today – so I think he took advantage of it, but with his height and strength he’s going to be physical and get separation. The good thing that we’ve seen yesterday and today is he’s been consistent catching the football. There was some inconsistency during the off-season and we’ve corrected some vision problems that he had (put him into contacts) and he’s catching the ball very well.

(on LB Nate Morrow returning to Titans camp this year)

He was healthy and was obviously here in town and wanted to give it another shot. When he passed the physical we felt it would be a good opportunity for him, especially since we’re down a little bit at numbers here for this camp. Nate did a nice job for us last year throughout the preseason. He filled in and played and played on special teams. He has not given the game up yet, so we wanted to give him another chance.

(on if he’s had a chance to see T Mario Branch (6-7, 333) around the training table)

There are a few of the guys that have eaten their shares. That’s part of the evaluation process out here, not specifically how much they eat, but what they eat. Sometimes you have to get that corrected as well.
