it doesnt say what level they tendered him at. they better not tender him low and let someone come grab him.

he is a ERFA not an RFA therefore I don't believe other teams can't make a play.

I just hope they wrap him up with a deal worthy of sticking around for 4 years +

They tendered him on the low. But like daryl mentioned...he is an ERFA so it doesn't matter.

On the day they hosted free-agent running back Fred Taylor at their team headquarters, the Buffalo Bills retained Fred Jackson's rights with a one-year tender for the minimum $460,000, an NFL source informs me.

The minimum tender was expected, but Jackson doesn't want to sign it. Jackson has insisted he deserves a multiyear contract.

Jackson's agent, Jerry Douglas, wouldn't comment other than to confirm the formality was executed Tuesday. Douglas wouldn't discuss the amount of the tender.

"We can verify that Fred was tendered, which we anticipated," Douglas said.

There is only one tender level for an ERFA - it is the minimun salary based on the number of years in the league

That would make sense. Cause what incentive would a team have to offer more than the minimum if said player cannot even speak to other teams?

It would be unusual to give a long term deal to an ERFA because there is no need to do it. But in this case, it might happen because of how much they like him. They may be working on a new deal now and the tender was necessary to retain his rights.

They can wait and offer him a long term contract next year. There's no reason to dent the cap more than is absolutely necessary. If he produces next season like he did this season, he'll get a high tender and then a long term deal before FA in 2010.
