T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Bengals close on a new deal

The National Football Post has learned that free-agent wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh and the Cincinnati Bengals are close to reaching an agreement on a new contract. It’s believed there’s 70-percent chance Houshmandzadeh returns to Cincinnati next season, sources said.
An eight-year veteran, Houshmandzadeh caught 92 passes for 904 yards and four touchdowns in 15 games last season.

That was reported yesterday... its not news.

By the way, 70% is probably what people would have said about Birk... well, hes hitting free agency.

Bengals seem to have a lot of cap room, but I don't know if they can get a deal done before midnight.

just saw this on pro football talk...

                        T.J. HASN’T HEARD FROM AGENT

Posted by Sheil Kapadia on February 26, 2009, 8:20 p.m. EST
T.J. Houshmandzadeh addressed reports that he’s close to re-signing with the Bengals, telling Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer he has not heard from his agent today.
“The only person from the Bengals who I’ve talked to today is Carson [Palmer] and he said ‘Don’t forget about us,’ ” he said.

TJ hasn't heard anything, but yet everyone else is. Is he stupid?

Quick story about TJ...last year I had to call him at 8am to do our fantasy football show at Yahoo. They had just lost an away game the night before on a last second play. I was scared out of my mind to wake the guy up and have him tell me off. It rang about 3 times, then a really pissed off "Hello." came from the other end of the line. I was told I had to mention his agent's name right away or he would hang up on me, and as soon as I did, he was like "Oh hey! How ya doing???"

He must've got big bucks from us to get him on the show...
