Per Rich Cimini of the NY Daily News (http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/jets/2009/02/jets-extend-sheppards-contract.html):

Remember Laveranues Coles? I'm hearing he'll make a decision Sunday, choosing between the Bills and Dolphins. The smart money is on the Dolphins.

Cimini is close to Coles.

I'm not doubting this report at all...but has he even received any interest or an offer from the Dolphins? I haven't heard anything about him visiting or anything like that. Seems strange to me...all I've heard is that he wants too much money for Miami to be interested.

I want Housh over Coles anyhow, so hopefully this would kick us into high gear to sign Housh.

I'm indifferent on Coles. NO WAY does Housh come here. He wants to go to a team that has an obvious chance at the playoffs. He has mentionned Vikings, Eagles, Giants and Jets as his preferences. There's a reason he wants those teams.

When the Bills fail, does it make you happy because you were right?

I'm curious to see what will happen especially since i haven´t heard of any visits. he does fit the parcells wr profile, but he may want too much $$$ even though he brings the experience

If were offering more money, I have to think were in the lead. This is Coles last contract most likely. Hes got to be thinking about life after football and making the most money that he can before he retires. Being comfortable is nice, but when your on your last contract, you will be thinking about getting the most you can.

I would hope that he comes here, but Miami has too many things playing in their favor...IMO.

Another season with just Evans, Reed and Parrish is definitely grounds for concern. I think Reed is sold (if he stays healthy) and Evans is good for a few big plays here and there but without another premium receiver we are going to see the same old crap. Maybe Hardy comes back and lights it up but that is a big if. Maybe Steve Johnson becomes a solid receiver but that is hard to say at this point as well. Maybe we take Pettigrew in the draft but again hard to say what impact he will have as a rookie. An injury to one of these guys would be terrible as we saw what happened when Reed was hurt last year. On top of all of that though if Hangartner isn't solid and if we dont either acquire another OL or have somone on the roster who can really play then TE won't last long and quite possibly neither will Fitzpatrick so we could be welcoming in the Hamdan era.

I will shut up now. It's just frustrating when the owner says we need talent yet he doesn't back it up. Hence all of the conspiracy theroists on the board.

He likes Pennington and Parcells. If we get him I would be shocked. I like how people think Houzsh is an option. Did I miss him visiting Buffalo??

just wanna add a couple of things, the writer of this blog Brian Biggane is really not well regarded in florida as he is pulling stuff out of his a** here and then, also see he doesnt even now that the name is michael crabtree he calls him eric, the list could go on and on

so it sounds to me this writer has very little credibility

it is though actually the truth as far as how i would see them viewing him. he is not a number one and they are committed to Ginn Jr., and bess is a great slot receiver, and they just paid camarillo an extension so they dont have a need for him. we do actually need someone to lineup next to evans, and he would be a nice stop gap for a year or 2. i think tuna isnt going to pay him close to what he wants eventhough he may want him.

you never know, maybe he really has spoken to that "NFL Source", i guess we´ll find out soon, i really think the bills have the better offer on the table, if miami really is in the mix, as i haven´t read anywhere yet, besides one blogger who mentioned coles was spotted at miami international airport which wasnt confirmed anywhere, it will come down to if coles wants to play with his buddy pennington again, for far less money i would guess

i think the bill probably offered somewhere around 4 million a year for 2 years 8 million total. what is holding it up is he is probably hoping that miami just matches buffalos offer (he probably isnt even worried about them beating it), but i dont think it will happen. they are looking for a number 1 and they are not going to get that in coles.

Well, if he ends up in Buffalo he'll have a chip on his shoulder against two division rivals.

Why would he have a chip against the Fins exactly?
