I know people, myself including have been craving some sort of rumor or move with some "juice" in it. And after getting not much other than the run-around and standard "company answers", I finally have something of interest.

I have it on a very reliable word that right after the Chiefs traded for Matt Casell, that the Bills called regarding a trade. No, not for Tony Gonzalez, but for guard Brian Waters.

From what I learned Waters desperately wants out of Kansas City, is not happy with Scott Pioli, and was told several negative things about the Chiefs new head coach (Haley) by Arizona players at the Pro Bowl.

Waters is angry at the organization and his contract and wants to be released or traded. With the Chiefs losing a 2nd round pick for Cassell, they could very well be open to cutting ties with Waters and recouping the lost draft choice.

To clear things up. I have no idea to what extent any trade was discussed, how or if the conversation got anywhere. But according to my person, who's been spot-on pretty much all week (he called the Dockery release and the Bills targeting Hangartner before anyone else reported it), the Bills definitely have at least an interest in trading for Waters.

Waters is a STUD. He is world's better than Dockery.

Put it this way, you add Waters and IMO, Waters and Peters gives you the best left side of an OL in the NFL.

No clue, right now.. And I dont know if the Chiefs are openly interested in trading him.. I just know that if nothing else, the Bills are definitely interested in acquiring him.

If I had to take a guess, and this is PURELY a guess. I'd say something like a Stroud type deal would get it done.. A 3rd, and either a 5th or 6th.

Waters is a beast. If we could get him in here it would be AMAZING. He is a better version of Ruben Brown in his prime.

The Brian Waters discontent came out a few days ago:

http://www.kansascity.com/160/story/1057650.html

Chiefs Pro Bowl guard Brian Waters asked the organization Thursday to release or trade him this offseason, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Waters asked for his release two days after a brief meeting with new head coach Todd Haley and after being told by first-time general manager Scott Pioli that he had no interest in meeting with Waters, the source said.

Waters, according to the source, was offended and shocked by what he perceived to be the arrogance of Haley and Pioli. Waters’ meeting with Haley and follow-up phone conversations confirmed in the nine-year vet’s mind that the negative reports about Haley he heard from Arizona Cardinals players while at the Pro Bowl were accurate, according to the source.

The Cardinals players told Waters and tight end Tony Gonzalez that Haley, Arizona’s offensive coordinator, was aloof, condescending and ignored by veterans, the source said. Anquan Boldin, Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald Jr. — Arizona’s offensive stars — were all members of the NFC Pro Bowl team.

Its pretty uncharacteristic of him to complain publicly. Though Larry Johnson does it every other week, and Gonzo's public rants are well known, Waters isn't usually like that.

He's been a team and community leader in KC for years, ...and a 4 time Pro Bowler. And deservedly so.

I'm really glad to see the Bills are going to make a play for him, I was hoping they would as soon as I saw the article a few days ago.

I wonder if we could do a package deal...something like our first for Waters and Gonzalez? Interesting, nonetheless, thanks for the info pat.

I think the Chiefs would want want to especially keep Gonzo now, with Casel on the team. Gonna pay your QB all that money you want all the weapons you can have for him.

Waters case may be different though,he REALLY wants out.

He's 32, but would help us tremendously for at least 2 years so I'm all for it, but there's no way that I would give up more than a 3rd. for him.

Being interested and/or making an effort for a trade vs. the trade happening are two different things.

Don't shoot the messenger man! lol

I would love this. He's a Pro Bowl guard and would replace Dockery rather nicely. Plus we can bring him over to keep the LG spot warm for a couple years, while our rookie Guard develops.

Lets get Coles and trade Roscoe to KC for Waters. Roscoe has some value as a return man and a weapon for Cassel. I dont want to just give away a third. i would rather spend it on a pick that wont see the field all year.

I say sign Coles and trade Roscoe and a fourth or fifth round pick for Waters

I think there could be problems with the trade, if FA's don't want to play here why would a "top 5" Olineman want to? He may not have any say in the trade, but all he has to do is threaten to hold out if he's traded and that could really be a problem with negotiations. There is no doubt Buffalo won't be the only team interested in a player of his quality if he's unhappy and wants to be traded and KC grants his wish. Players not wanting to play in Buffalo is a very big problem not only with FA's, but in any trade talk, as we've seen with Tony Gonzalez.
