We are at the epi center of a great de bate going on in the NFL.
In Cleveland, all eyes soon will fixate on the competition between Tim Couch and Kelly Holcomb for the Browns' starting quarterback job.
The contest informally begins Wednesday, when coach Butch Davis kicks off Browns "quarterback school." Never has the phrase been more apt.
During 14 team practices over the next four weeks, Davis and his coaches will evaluate Couch, the four-year incumbent, against Holcomb, the overnight playoff-game sensation six years in the making.
It is a competition unlike either has had in his pro career.
Couch has never been a backup since being given the Browns' job one game into his rookie season of 1999. Holcomb has never had a chance at a starting job in six seasons with three teams in the NFL.
