The Bills not so desperate at O-line

I don't think it's as bad as it looks. Here's what we have so far...

T - Jason Peters, Langston Walker, Kirk Chambers, Demetrius Bell
G - Brad Butler, Kirk Chambers, Geoff Hangartner
    C - Geoff Hangartner
    That's 6 players.

Kirk Chambers can play any T or G position.
Geoff Hangartner can play any interior position.

The Bills usually carry 8... Possibly 9. Here are the possibilities as I see them...
    1) Kendall Simmons - If healthy would be our starting LG.
    2) Brian Waters - Obvious starting LG.
    3) Re-sign Duke Preston - Would back-up every interior position.
    4) Draft a C in rounds 2 though 4.

    I personally prefer...
T - Jason Peters, Langston Walker, Kirk Chambers, Demetrius Bell
G - Brian Waters, Brad Butler, Kirk Chambers, Geoff Hangartner
    C - Geoff Hangartner, Rookie

    Wild Card - 9th O-lineman Duke Preston

Any thoughts on Jonathan Scott as a backup G? He was a tackle with the Lions and we picked him up at the end of the year. His bio doesn't say if he ever played Guard but was a Deep Snapper before. It was on his Lions bio.

          We need a back-up C way more than a back-up guard.

Who said anything about Chambers starting... Although I think he's come a long way the last couple years. I believe he was a former 3rd round draft pick.

that o-line would be about the same or worse then it was last year, unless the rookie is the 2nd coming of kent hall..
My wife told me that if I had a dollar for every girl who found me unattractive, girls would find me VERY attractive.

              MY WIFE SAID THAT!!!

How do you figure... Hangartner is a definate upgrade over Fowler/Preston... And Waters is a no brainer over Dockery.

if Peters gets back into shape and back into true pro-bowl form, we're automatically better (despite losing dockery... still pissed off about losing him).

our right side is fairly solid, Langston walker is our most consistent performer.

Now, I have to believe Jason peters will have a better year this year. I am hoping to hell we offer him a competitive figure, and he extends and is in camp on time. If this doesnt happen, then we're in trouble. but if he does, I fully expect him to have a stellar year again. If we can put waters or simmons next to him, i think we would be improved over last year if only because hangartner >> fowler/preston and '08 peters << '09 peters

That's a lot of ifs though to count on to happen to improve it. As of today our line is worse off then it was last season.

there is some good depth at C in the draft and this would be the place to bring in a C for grooming and depth

Unfortunatley I don't share that optomism. I don't view Hangartner as an upgrade. maybe he is, but right now it doesn't look to be anupgrade just another diamond in the rough that the Bill shope will miraculously become the missing piece.

Peters in camp definitely helps, but losing Dockery and not getting a bonafide healthy replacement means we are not better then last year IMO
