Visa problems delay Moore’s start with Sabres
By Mike Harrington
NEWS SPORTS REPORTER

Buffalo Sabres coach Lindy Ruff has already decided one of the two new players the team acquired Wednesday won’t be on the ice when the Phoenix Coyotes come to HSBC Arena tonight. Ruff is hoping the other will play but it’s no sure thing.

While the Sabres are fine with red-hot Patrick Lalime staying in goal and newcomer Mikael Tellqvist again serving as the backup, they certainly want Dominic Moore in the lineup. But Moore could not practice Thursday as the former Toronto Maple Leafs center and Sabres officials worked to iron out some visa issues.

Moore said he was confident they would be taken care of but Ruff was taking a more cautious approach.

“I have a concern until we get his visa,” said Ruff. “When it’s here, I won’t be concerned.”

The difference is that he is now playing for an US team, not a Canadian team.

Just hide him in the trunk and bring him over, just like we did with fireworks when we were kids.

Seriously, though, does it matter? If this team can't beat the Coyotes at home, they don't deserve to make the playoffs anyway.

True but with it being, what could be considered a "gimme". I would like a new player get his feet wet with a new team in a game like this.

The Islanders were supposed to be a gimme too and look what happened. Also, don't forget the Sabres got throttled by this team once already this year.

here's how the trade talks went between darcy and toronto:

Darcy: Sooo, how about a 2nd rounder and Max for Moore

Toronto: No thanks, that doesnt appeal to us at all

Darcy: Ok, how about just the 2nd round pick

Toronto: Done!

The Sabres beat the Coyotes 2-0 this year.
