wtf? That guy just got so close to Lalime that Lalime had to push him away, and Spacek stood there and didn't do anything about it. Grow a sack and stand up for your goalie!

Tallinder and Lalime are playing well.

Most of the offense in the 2nd came from the Mair/Kaleta/Ellis line, which shows how bad the rest of the team is sucking.

At this point, Rivet and Sekera are bigger offensive threats than Pominville.

Stupid VS- first, they never show the scrums. Several times, I heard the crowd go nuts but they didn't show what was going on. When Biron came out high to cut off the angle, they called it "aggressive goaltending" and showed the replay twice. When Lalime did the same thing, they barely even mentioned it.

IMO, this team needs an entire facelift in the offseason and I mean trading some of the pansies on this team which include...Roy, Hecht, Pominville, Lydman, Tallinder, etc...nobody should be untouchable and everybody should be in play. They need to tear the guts of this team out of it and rebuild because the makeup of that lockerroom is killing this team.

but they won't make any major changes. They'll let a couple FA's walk, sign a mediocre defenseman, and call up Gerbe. And it'll be the same **** again next year.

A full day of *****ing and workouts didnt change this team.

They're the same in and out. It would really be a shame if Ruff was fired this year, because it's not his fault.

His players play like ****ing bums night in and night out. I really dont understand it, you're payed so much ****ing money.. do your ****ing job.

The problem is the money is for sure, if it wasnt garaunteed I think we would have a better game to watch.

Head Coach Lindy Ruff held an optional skate Monday morning at HSBC Arena. After practicing Sunday afternoon, following a 6-3 loss to the Ottawa Senators, Ruff wanted to allow for some rest before heading to Philadelphia to take on the Flyers.

“We’ve got three or four guys fighting this virus that’s been going around. We decided to flip the practice… go a little bit easier today,” Ruff said.

Among those battling the flu is Derek Roy. The centerman, who is averaging 21:36 minutes of ice time each game this year, was limited to a season-low 16:30 minutes of ice time against the Senators.

“I don’t think it was an excuse for some of the plays but he has been suffering,” Ruff said. “He missed some time in the Phoenix game and he missed some time in the Ottawa game. It’s tough right now but we’ve got to battle through it and throw these excuses aside.”

Both guys threw a lot of punches. Kaleta lost his helmet and it looked like he got nailed once. He landed a bunch of punches but they weren't very effective cuz the other guy never lost his helmet. They went down once then got up and each threw about 7 or 8 more times before they finally went down for good.

It was spirited, but neither guy inflicted any real damage.

Actually it was. I thought Kaleta did a pretty good job throwing lefts and connecting several times, putting him down with one.

Seems like the officials are very quick to jump in to stop fighting now.

GMs opposed to fights after faceoffs

NAPLES, Fla. -- NHL general managers think some fighting in their league needs to be eliminated or at least reduced.

They're recommending a rule change that would give a 10-minute misconduct penalty to players who fight immediately after a faceoff. The 10-minute misconduct could also be applied to any other fight a referee believes was staged.

The general managers spoke during the second day of their annual meetings. Their recommendations would have to be approved by the NHL's competition committee and Board of Governors before the 2009-10 season.

The GMs also recommended limiting fighting in response to a clean hit, by calling the instigator penalty more aggressively. The league has seen an increase in violent reactions to clean hits.
