All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
He gets linked to the Pats a lot, because everyone compares him to Mike Vrabel. He was a college TE prior to switching to defense as a senior.
I don't know that he fits on the Bills, since everyone projects him as 3-4 OLB. I don't see the fit as well in a 4-3, although he did rush the passer well last year (11 sacks).
Frankly, I'm surprised this guy is being tabbed as a riser. I realize he is a great athlete, but he only has 1 year experience on defense and is something of a 'tweener. He is versatile, with experience at TE and a reputation for good ST play. Still... seems like a bit of a project for a high pick, despite the big upside as a pass rusher and ability to contribute in other areas.

The one thing about Barwin though is his work ethic, it may be tops in this class. At the Senior Bowl he actually worked out with both the TE's and DE's as a testament to his maturity and willingness to do anything just to play. From reports Ive read he is rising due to that, he is thought of as one of the hardest working players in this draft, and has a high ceiling based off what he did this season. I do concur though he is not a 4-3 DE fit.

Barwin can easily play DE in a 4-3. He can also play 3-4 OLB. He is big enough, fast enough and strong enough to do either. He is already bigger than a lot of DEs in the NFL and he's just a rookie.

Seeing as how you can only visit with 30 College prospects, Im pretty sure the Bills consider Barwin a 4-3 prospect or else they wouldn't waste their time and possible visits with him.
You might have your own philosophy on how a DE has to be over 265 pounds coming out of college to be a DE in the NFL but the NFL pretty much disagrees with that philosophy.
