HOUSTON (Ticker) -- James Allen, who rushed for 519 yards for the Houston Texans in their inaugural season, was re-signed Tuesday.
Terms were not disclosed.
The 5-10 Allen spent four seasons with the Chicago Bears before joining the Texans, where he carried 155 times last season while setting career highs with 47 receptions for 302 yards.
Allen shared backfield duties with Jonathan Wells, who had a team-high 197 carries for 529 yards and three touchdowns.
Allen's best season was 2000, when he rushed for 1,120 yards on 290 carries for the Bears. He played collegiately at Oklahoma and ran for 768 yards as a senior.
