The Miami Dolphins (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=mia) have traded one-time starting center Samson Satele (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=10504) to the Oakland Raiders (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=oak) for a draft choice.

Satele became available this spring when the Dolphins signed former Raiders starting center Jake Grove (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=5570) as an unrestricted free agent three weeks ago.

This is the kindof move that would make sense for the Bills. Satele is a good, young player that seems like we could plug into the LG spot, or else try Hangartner at LG and keep Satele at C. But alas...

I hate trades within the division. They always seem to burn us.

no I know, thats why said this is the type of move I wish we'd do, im not upset we didnt get him specifically. Not sure how openly they were shopping him, or if there are any other players out there that could be had in this way, but I just feel that this was a good move by the Raiders, and would like to see us pull some good moves too.

"His durability aside, Satele was believed by Miami coaches to be not strong enough to regularly handle the mammoth nose tackles in the AFC East. An offseason goal of the Dolphins was to upgrade at center, if possible."

It would be nice if our coaches/front office had that kind of reasoning ability.

But hey! Pat Thomas is a "good, solid, high-character, durable, versatile, special-teamer."

Read my post above of why Miami got rid of him.

Its funny that Morris has had success in NE and Miami but not in buffalo. Sucks.

Jake Grove and a 7th for Samson? I dont think thats that terrible of a deal, seeing as how Grove was on a bad line, and Satele showed signs of being a good young player. If I were the Raiders I'd rather have Satele than Grove.

I think they did when they let Fowler and Preston walk... Hargartner will probably prove to be stronger then either of them

Morris was a hard runner for us, too. He just got stuck behind some other guys and played on some AWFUL teams (the 2001 squad).

Just looking at the last 2 offseasons, the Dolphins try to get better at every position. They are managed extremely well. I don't feel that the Bills are as effective in doing this.

Do you think Bill Parcells would keep a dud like Chris Kelsey? Ko Simpson?

IMO, the Bills should've found a replacement for Melvin Fowler years ago.
