    Monday's Peterson-Vermeil Pro-Am a good way to have fun

Chiefs quarterback Trent Green has figured out the perfect way for almost all humans to coexist with golf: Don't take it too seriously.

"I made that decision a long time ago," Green said, smiling, after spending Monday afternoon playing at the Carl Peterson-Dick Vermeil Pro-Am at The National in Parkville. "I know how much time you have to put into football to be good, and golf's the same way. I can't put that kind of time in it; I need to put it into football.

"I like to have fun with golf. I enjoy it more by just going out and playing and not worrying about how I do."

His coach, Dick Vermeil, feels pretty much the same way. Vermeil doesn't play a lot of golf or partake in many outings such as Monday's because, "It means I'm away from my wife, and I'm already away from her so much when I'm working. It's time we could be spending together."
