People around the League are still yuk yukking about the latest chapter in the ongoing comedy called Have You Seen Our Contract Guy -- Oh Yea -- We Have A New One -- Again that is playing daily at Redskin park. Recent news from Little Danny's Playhouse confirm what we here at Profootballtalk have been saying for months: former NFL Guy former Ex-NFL Guy former Agent Consultant former New Redskin Contract Guy present About To Become A Former Ex-NFL Guy Again Joe Mendes will be leaving the Redskins when his contract expires after the 2003 season. Tattoo's hire of Mendes paved the way for the eventual departure of Contract Guru Mark Levin, who the Redskins scored a major coup with when Levin was hired away from the NFL Players Association (Levin recently returned to that gig). At the time of the hire Mendes replaced Levin as contract head honcho and became the point man for contract negotiations.

Word is that the recent glutton-like contracts paid out by Boy Coin -- for which Mendes was only tokenly involved -- further nailed Mendes' coffin and UPS-like departure out of Redskin land. Redskins officials have indicated that a junior associate of the front office will handle future contract matters -- assuming he does not get too tired carrying the Danny Doll around on his shoulder.
