Gonzo still looking for trade (merged)

He's obviously still got some serious gas in the tank. After being the biggest threat on a terrible team he still caught nearly a 100 balls for over 1k yards and double digit td's. I know he supposedly voided a trade to b-lo last year, but we also didn't have TO last year. I would think it might at least be worth it to see what they would want for him and see if he has any interest in playing here now!

    Thoughts?

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I thought the Chiefs said recently that Gonzalez was absolutely not available for trade?

Even if they did say that, it is a strategy to keep his trade stock up, but I do not recall the team mentioning anything about not trading him.

Did he not reject a trade to the bills before last years deadline?

Apparently, legend has it the Bills made an offer for Gonzo last year, the Chiefs were willing to pursue it, but Gonzo vetoed the trade because he didn't want to play for Buffalo.

I doubt they'll trade him based on the owners comments today, and that they want as many weapons as possible for Cassel

Re: Tony Gonzalez still interested in trade.

Contrary to remarks by Kansas City owner Clark Hunt, Tony Gonzalez wants to be traded if the right deal can be made, a person close to the Pro Bowl tight end told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

Yes, that was last year. As I noted, we didn't have TO last year. One big name player could most certainly change the mind of another.

I hardly think you can blame the guy for not wanting to play for Buffalo. 9 Years no playoffs. Remember, he wanted to play for a contender, which blo has been FAR from for years! With the addition of to maybe that makes us a contender to him?

“If the right deal can be made, Tony very much wants the Chiefs to trade him,” the person said. “Tony is not demanding a trade. Tony cherishes the time he’s spent with the Chiefs and he loves the way he’s always been treated by the fans there. But he knows of some other teams that would be interested in him and if the right deal can be made, he wants it to be made.”
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
                        It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

well it fell through last year and I do not believe the Bills are even going to pursue it this year because of last year.

I agree. He's less valuable now. At the time the Bills were looking at a potential run at the playoffs and he would have been a very good fit. That train has left the station and I don't think this is the "right trade" that Gonzales is talking about anyway.

Pioli will not do a deal that hurts the Pats in any way.
