Steve McNair has pulled victory from the jaws of defeat so many times that even the most loyal fans have a hard time keeping up with them all.
In big games, he has made Houdini-like escapes from would-be tacklers. He has played on Sundays despite not practicing all week (see December 2002). During his eight-year NFL career, McNair has proven he can pretty much do it all.
Now the Titans quarterback has managed to do something else — he has found a way to put the ''off'' back into his offseason.
And for McNair, and perhaps everyone else, that's a good thing.
''He hasn't been nearly as grouchy,'' Titans offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger said.
