Manning and Dungy on team greeting Bush

There's no truth to the rumor that Peyton Manning, hurriedly yelling to the assembled dignitaries, tried to change the itinerary moments before President Bush's speech Tuesday at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

But for a while, at least, the president recognized Manning as the quarterback.

Bush apparently knew that the Colts star would be among the people greeting him privately at the fairgrounds before the president spoke to a crowd of about 7,000.

"I heard from someone on the advance team that as soon as the president got out of the limousine, he started acting like he was doing a pass pattern and acting like he was open," said Mike McDaniel, former state chairman of the Republican Party, who worked with the White House on organizing the greeting parties during Bush's visit.

Colts coach Tony Dungy was among the people at the Indianapolis International Airport to greet Bush upon his arrival Monday.
