My take is he gets a good deal of money up front, but it really doesn't overly affect our cap and maintains flexibility to deal with the Peters situation (sign him, pay the players and/or draft picks that are acquired). Also, on the back end, we have alot of flexibility if his performance falls off. Seem right?
I also believe that the constrictions of the uncapped year on raises and such played a part. If the Bills waited until next year, they could have got caught in a "perfect storm" where they couldn't give him a suitable raise because of the rules and then risked him going to free agency to make more. Maybe that is a reach, but I think it makes sense.
