Commissioner Roger Goodell has suspended Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch for the first three games of the 2009 season for violating the league's personal conduct policy, according to sources.

An official announcement could come as soon as Thursday. Lynch is expected to appeal the suspension.

Lynch will lose approximately $112,000 of his $635,000 base salary for 2009 during the suspension.

He will file an appeal and probably get it reduced to 1 or 2 games.

way to go marshawn, run freddy run, i got faith in ya. Behind you, well thats another story. Now we are gonna have 2, possibly 3 new starters on the offensive line and marshawn has to wait 3 games till he can start to run behind them and gel.

Fair enough.

I like the way Goodell handles the personal conduct policy.

how can you be at the mercy of a deciding body for doing something you know was wrong and then appeal the decision? if he never puts himself in that position, then he wouldn't have to appeal.

2 strikes, drugs on the second one with a weapon, this is his punishment. 2009 is going to really be an embarassing year. moreso than last year. i can feel it.

No, Marshall got suspended for 3 games and only served one after appeal, after FOUR arrests. Goodell is a moron. This better get reduced to one game.

He definitely needs to get suspended, and hopefully this will teach him a lesson. It's not easy to get rid of those friends who never did anything with their lives, but hopefully he can man up and do it.

i'm surprised it wasn't 4 games. Goodell has been lowering the boom on players to send a message that he's not goofing around. 3 games is fair.

It's fine, Freddy J and Ian Johnson will take care of it ;-)

i count 3 arrests since marshall has been in the NFL. one in 2009, so he's likely facing a suspension at the beginning of this year, as well.

I figured it would be 2 or 3 games. This is fair, as long as he is able to appeal it and knock it down to 1 or 2 games.

Anyway we can convince the commish to let him start his suspension in Week2 considering we have to go to Foxboro for an ass whooping to open the season?

That would be my appeal to the office. I would be like "Sir, please let me play the opening game since we are traveling to NE and they always destroy us. If I can play in that one game, our team has a better chance to win. Please don't take all this out on the franchise and our fans by making that game that much easier for the Cheatriots because I ****ed up."

I think the punishment is fair, considering he got nothing for the hit and run. This is his second offense, so three games - with a likely reduction to two - seems appropriate.

What will be the punishment when Lynch messes up again?

they may be tight but Freddie is smiling now. The bills won't be lowballing him now.

If Lynch messes up again, he should probably just be cut and then his punishment won't be our problem anymore.
