    Bills Shopping Roscoe

    BILLS SHOPPING ROSCOE PARRISH
Posted by Mike Florio on April 9, 2009, 6:33 p.m.
With a glut of wide receivers and a 2008 first-round defensive back (Leodis McKelvin) who can return kicks on the roster, the Buffalo Bills are testing the waters for interest in Roscoe Parrish.

According to a league source, the Bills are shopping Parrish, primarily as an exploratory measure.

Parrish was a second-round pick in the 2005 draft, and he has appeared in 55 of a possible 64 career games. He has served primarily as a kick returner, with only 1,097 total receiving yards in four NFL seasons. He also has more fumbles (seven) than receiving touchdowns (five).

Signed for three more seasons, Parrish is due to earn base salaries of $1 million in 2009, $1.025 million in 2010, and $1.025 million in 2011.

The Bills currently have nine receivers on the roster: Parrish, Terrell Owens, Lee Evans, Josh Reed, James Hardy, Felton Huggins, Justin Jenkins, Steve Johnson, and C.J. Hawthorne.

Man please......guys like Roscoe are a dime a dozen! Look how many rookies come out every year and make a huge impact on special teams......I would much rather see Stevie Johnson get more reps.

you DO know it's Roscoe P. Coltrane, and not Peco Train????

          just asking.

oh and I would trade Parrish for a 3rd but not less. He has big play ability and is a dynamo on PR> Plus if Leodis is starting I'm not sure I want to risk injury on punts.

Yeah, this was to be expected. McKelvin has just as much big-play ability on returns, and Parrish has been a disappointment at WR. This opens up the Bills to take advantage of the deep, deep draft at WR (especially slot WR's) in the later rounds.

I would be happy if they managed to trade him for a 4th or more.

This Sucks. He is the most dynamic player on our team. MVP in my eyes. He changes field position for us on every punt return. He is DYNAMITE! I'd hate to see him go. He is the most exciting player to watch on our team. The stadium goes nuts for him.

Finally. Roscoe is going to be around last on our depth chart. He is also a horrible KR and is one dimentional. Also he was the number 2 WR for a stretch and did nothing. He sucks and with his return ability, we could get a 3rd in return.

He's really a luxury player on a team that has alot more pressing needs. I think the Bills can get a mid to late third rounder for him. I rather have Evans, TO, and even Josh Reed on the field more than Parrish. Throw in Steve Johnson's and James Hardy's potential, he might be left out of the mix.

He's cheap and will score a couple TDs a year on punt returns. I would rather see us keep him.

Even though I like him and like his explosiveness as a punt returner..that's all he is. He will be last on the depth chart and I think Johnson deserves a look as the #4 guy. Who knows if Hardy is going to be healthy or not. If we can get a 3rd rounder for him, I think it will be worth it. Hell, if we trade Peters and Parrish, we should be able to get 3 or maybe even 4 more draft picks
