Tomi Nelson, manager of a Green Bay realty firm that put together the eBay sale, said Tuesday that online bidding was halted Tuesday night.

"We canceled the auction early in an attempt to not lose any real bidders, while we tried to sort out the bogus ones," Nelson said.

The bidding had been scheduled to end today.

A minimum bid of $1 million had been set for the auction. Brown County tax records show the fair market value of the home is $901,700. The asking price online was $1,365,000.

Nelson said the legitimacy of the two highest bidders could not be determined. The highest bidder, believed to have bid $1,334,744 on the home, could not be located.

A total of 77 bids were received. Nelson said her staff could only contact bidders through e-mail. "We are still in the process of verifying the legitimacy of the bids and qualifying ones that we feel are legitimate," she said.
