    Mel Kiper's thoughts

Here are some thoughts from Mel Kiper Jr. He says our priorities are:

    #1-DE, #2-TE, #3-WLB, #4-G, #5-S, #6-RB, #7-QB

His 4 Round Mock Draft has us taking:

    1. DE Robert Ayers-Tennessee

    2. TE Jared Cook-South Carolina

    3. OL T.J. Lang-Eastern Michigan

    4. S Michael Hamlin-Clemson

Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

Pretty accurate. I agree: LDE first, for sure. And spare me the "..but Kelsay is good against the run" crap. NO, HE ISN'T. And his "pass rush", by way of East Aurora? PULEEZE......I personally think Fine can be a servicable TE. I'd sign a FA left guard, a la Simmons, then draft LDE and LOLB. After the first 2 picks, you're not going to get help for this year anyway.....

I'd drop the QB altogether, insert DT at #5 and dropping safety and running back a notch each.

IMO, I'd rate the OG and WLB alot higher (2 & 3 perhaps) and put the TE far down lower.

Ayers is a reach... I don't wanna leapfrog talent to get to need... It hasn't worked for the past 10 years.

              BPA for me please.

If the Bills are getting a DE in the first and Brown is available he is the pick.
Biggest Donte Whitner supporter on this entire message board...Maybe biggest Donte Whitner fan ever...Wish there was a white throwback out that I could get of you guessed it #20...

If we don't think Peters will show, LT is the #1 priority. Followed by...

                    DE

FB (if we insist on using one)

The team might not win 6 games this year.

I would be extremely happy if the Bills got Jared Cook.
                            Draft Gabbert at #3!

I agree with his first four needs and that DE is probably our biggest one. TE, LB, and G can probably be switched around a bit and what positions we fill should depend on who is still on the board when we pick.

I don't really feel any pressing need at Safety. I thought Scott played pretty well at SS last year, and Whitner should be FS. I actually like our secondary at this point. Hopefully, McKelvin proves his worth for the entire year in this area. The more we improve our pass rush, the better our secondary will be, too, which is really the main point and our biggest need. I'm excited to see Youboty back. We actually have a little depth in our secondary already.

I don't see any real need at running back, especially when you pick one up so late. Lynch is the man if he stays out of trouble, and Jackson is a great change of pace...we'll give him a new contract; I have no doubt.

Why pick a QB in round 7? What's a guy like that going to do? I say we take the highest ranked player on our board in the last round, no matter what position he plays. I'd rather try to beef up both lines in the later rounds than go RB, QB, and S. Maybe we can find a diamond in the rough.
