 where is he going to go? his career is done like a t-bone steak, no team will want him. If he wants to play :hockey: he'll probably have to play in the Russia Hockey League because he's not good enough to play in the NHL.

he's had some great goals though

I never questioned his heart............he played better after the injury but he just doesn't make good decisions with the puck and more times than not, it leads to a turnover, goal or at least a good scoring chance by the other team

Adios Max, thanks for years of flashes and mediocrity.

Numminen is still trying to decide if he is going to retire? That should be the easiest decision in his whole career for christ sake.

Good riddance

I agree with a caveat....

Good riddance as long as it doesn't give the FO an excuse to keep Hecht.

unless some teams wants him Hecht is going nowhere...it would cost them too much to buy out the contract...

with that being said, bye Maxim...his problems were in his head not in his skates...I truly think he was dumber than the puck.

yeah I agree- his skating and stickhandling seemed to create space but his mind couldn't process the information fast enough and he had no idea to go with the puck, so he'd just skate in circles until he eventually got checked and coughed it up.

And on D he was just clueless. I saw him make some extremely amateur mistakes in the Sabres' zone- stuff recreational hockey players won't even do.

I will say that Lindy is also a reason that some players like Max have had problems. His constant screwing around with lines causes players to not know where the other players are going to be. You need to really know your limemates.

Max was a very good player at times. He just didn't/wouldn't adhere to Lindy's backchecking defensive style enough.

plus Max isn't mentality tough enough to handle Ruff's tactics. He takes it the hardest.

Afinogenov was the Losman of the sabres fans world. So many sabres fans defending Afinogenov saying his best was yet to come. Even after the same issues kept resurfacing.

Even in 2007 he got benched in the playoffs. Another sports player who has all the gifts in the world but no brain to apply it on a regular and consistent basis.

See Maxim.
