The San Francisco 49ers hold their second minicamp in three weeks this weekend, but it's not there you should look for something to happen. It's in the weeks that follow.
I'm talking specifically about what the team is going to do with wide receivers J.J. Stokes and Terrell Owens. And look for Stokes' situation to be rectified long before the team tackles Owens.

Stokes, a disappointment since the 49ers made him the 10th pick of the 1995 draft, is a salary-cap casualty waiting to happen, and there's what one club official deemed "a strong likelihood" the club will release him June 1.

Owens is a whole different matter. He's not only the best receiver on the team. He's the best receiver in the game, and the 49ers desperately want to keep the guy beyond this season. One problem: He may cost too much.
