    Mock Draft 2.0

Full 2 round Mock with analysis,

Will do a 3.0 mock 2 days before the draft for the first round.

Lemme know if there are any errors. Enjoy.

    1. Detroit Lions - Mathew Stafford - QB - Georgia - The 2 OTs Jason Smith and Eugene Monroe are tempting but adding a talented and strong armed QB like Stafford to pair with Calvin Johnson sets the future for the Lions. Looking back at the 08 draft, Matt Ryan would have to be the #1 pick. Franchise QBs are tough to come by.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- Jason Smith

    2. St-Louis Rams - BJ Raji - DT - Boston College- The Rams are torn between Raji and J.Smith here but looking at the depth in this draft, you can get quality LTs like Britton or Beatty at the top of the second, but a DT with Raji's versatility to stuff the run and rush the passer is unparalleled in the draft. Plus, adding Raji will boost the value of 2 other former first rounders for the Rams in Long and Carriker.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- Eugene Monroe

    3. Kansas City Chiefs - Jason Smith - OT - Baylor - Smith is the best athlete in the draft out of all the OTs. He is an excellent pass protector and handles speed rushers with ease. Although he is by no means a road grater in the run game he has the strength and power to hold his own and he will only improve in that area when he gets to the NFL. This move allows the Chiefs to slide former first round pick Brandon Albert to LG where he played in college or to RT which will provide Cassel with solid protection on both sides of the line.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- Aaron Curry

    4. Seattle Seahawks - Aaron Curry - OLB - Wake Forest - Aaron Curry is a physical specimen that does everything well. After trading away Julian Peterson to the Detroit Lions the Hawks have a opening at playmaking OLB that Curry would be the perfect fit for. Curry would join Tatupu and Hill to form a dominant LB crew.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- Mark Sanchez

    5. Cleveland Browns - Michael Crabtree - WR - Texas Tech - If Crennel was still coaching the Browns I would have gone with Orakpo but Mangini wont be interested using a high pick on a player only to get what he got out of Vernon Gholston which was nothing. Crabtree will either team with Braylon Edwards or this move will allow the Browns to trade Braylon for a high selection to address their defense with.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- No Change

    6. Cincinnati Bengals - Eugene Monroe - OT - Virginia - Monroe is considered the best technician among all the OTs in the draft. He is almost unbeatable in pass protection and is also a reliable run blocker. Monroe is well seasoned and faced tough competition week in and week out in college. He may be the most well rounded and pro-ready players in the draft next to Curry and Crabtree.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- No Change

    7. Oakland Raiders - Brian Orakpo - DE - Texas - Al Davis loves measurables and Orakpo has them all. The Raiders pass rush was weak last year and Orakpo should provide them with a lethal edge rush that will allow CBs Asamougha and Johnson to be extra aggressive.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- No change

    8. Jacksonville Jaguars - Malcolm Jenkins - CB - Ohio State - The Jags pass coverage was horrendous last year and losing Rashean Mathis for the season showed the Jags how valuable the CB position is for their defense. With no starter opposite Mathis going into the season Jenkins being available is a perfect fit. Some question his long speed but at the end of the day Jenkins is a pure cover corner who can also hit and tackle like a safety. Del Rio will like that.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- Vontae Davis

    9. Green Bay Packers - Andre Smith - OT - Alabama - The Packers are in a tight spot here between a rusher for their 3-4 and the value that Andre Smith presents at #9. In the end value wins and his value will be put to good use at RT due to the loss of Mark Tauscher to injury. Smith will bring physicality and toughness to the Packers OL and soon enough he will replace Chad Clifton at LT who turns 33 in June.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- Everette Brown

    10. San Francisco 49ers - Mark Sanchez - QB - USC- Mark Sanchez IMO will be the best QB drafted in 2009. He may not have all the measurables the other QBs possess but his intangible qualities and accuracy will make him a star at the next level.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- Josh Freeman

    11. Buffalo Bills - Robert Ayers - DE - Tennessee - Ayers has been flying up draft boards and for good reason. When you watch Ayers you dont only see a player who can turn the corner on OTs but he can also bully them and push them back into QBs and RBs in the backfield. He slides down the line of scrimmage with ease to make plays and also has the versatility to play inside at DT on passing downs or drop into zone coverage and make plays on the ball. Ayers has serious potential in the mold of Justin Tuck. At 6'3 272 Ayers is NFL ready and can have an immediate impact on a Bills DL that struggled to produce.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- Aaron Maybin

    12. Denver Broncos - Everette Brown - DE/OLB - Florida State - Denver is yet another team converting to a 3-4 alignment and they will also need a playmaker at the OLB spot. Brown is a pure pass rusher that should be able to learn to stand up as a LB and should have no problem playing out of a 3 point stance as a DE. That versatility will be welcome in Denver's new defense.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- No Change

    13. Washington Redskins - Aaron Maybin - DE - Penn State - As solid as the Redskins defense has been over the years they have really been missing an edge rusher that can make plays in the backfield and pressure QBs quickly. Maybin brings the fastest first step among all the DE and OLBs in the draft which will put the Redskins defense over the top. The addition of Maybin means more turnovers for the Skins D.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- No change

    14. New Orleans Saints - Peria Jerry - DT- Mississippi - Peria Jerry has been steadily climbing up draft boards after a solid performance at Senior Bowl week. Jerry is quick off the snap and has great burst. He is strong but can also make plays down the line of scrimmage. The Saints can team him up with Sedrick Ellis and finally make the middle of their DL their strength instead of their weakness. Jerry will help the Saints stuff the run and also rush the passer which is his specialty.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- No Change

    15. Houston Texans – Chris Wells - RB - Ohio State- Houston already has a solid RB in Steve Slaton but with more and more teams relying on 2 RBs for their rushing game the Texans can't resist the opportunity to have their own version of Smash and Dash. Wells combines speed, power and great cutting ability which makes him a nightmare to bring down. This Texan version of Smash and Dash could end up being the best in the league.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- No Change

    16. San Diego Chargers - Rey Maualuga – ILB – USC – Junior Seau anyone? Although the Bolts boast 2 of the best OLBs in the league in Merriman and Philips there have been no MLB to come through San Diego lately to make them forget about Seau. Maualuga has virtually all the same skill sets Seau did, power, athleticism, instincts and overall football IQ. Another Samoan Trojan could do wonders for the Chargers defense.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- No Change

    17. New York Jets – Josh Freeman – QB – Kansas State– Freeman is a very similar prospect to Joe Flacco from last year's draft and with a solid Pro Day he shouldn't be surprised to find his name called in the first round. The Jets have big time question marks at QB and a team that is in win now mode very similar to the Ravens last year. Freeman will come into a very good situation with a solid Defense, run game and OL, also very similar to the Ravens of 08.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- No Change

    18. Denver Broncos – Tyson Jackson – DE – LSU – Tyson Jackson is one of the more powerful DEs in the draft and although he is not a pass rush specialist he brings stoutness, and the ability to manhandle blockers at the LOS. Denver is moving to a 3-4 alignment and will need bigger linemen to add to their defense. Jackson can start day 1 at DE for the Broncos.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- Michael Johnson for Chicago Bears

    19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Vontae Davis - CB 0- Illinois - Vontae Davis is a physical specimen at CB and also arguably the top cover corner in the draft. He has a thick build that makes him tough at the line and also has the vertical speed to stay with the faster receivers in the league. Tampa is aging at the CB spot with returning players Ronde Barber and Philip Buchanon so adding Davis makes plenty of sense and is a great value pick at 19.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- Peria Jerry

    20. Detroit Lions – Michael Oher – OT – Mississippi – So far the draft couldn't have gone any better for the Lions who get one of the top OT talents after selecting their franchise QB. Oher's stock has been steady throughout the process and if only there wasn't so much talent at OT this year he would have easily been in the top 10.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- Evander Hood

    21. Philadelphia Eagles – Willam Beatty – OT – Connecticut – Beatty is as solid as it comes when it comes to pass protecting thanks to his elite athleticism. Beatty moves very well and is very intelligent. He may not be a mauler but once he fills out his 6'6 307 pound frame he will become a more imposing player. Beatty should start day one for the departed William 'Tra' Thomas.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- No Change

    22. Minnesota Vikings – Jeremy Maclin – WR– Missouri – After trying to secure the services of TJ Housh-a-mazood and losing out to Seattle the Vikings look to the draft for a weapon to add to their WR corp. To their amazement they get one of the most electrifying players in the draft and certainly one of the top play makers. Maclin brings speed, size, hands and great KR/PR abilities to the table which will give the Vikings yet another exciting player to add to their offense.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- No Change

    23. New England Patriots – Clay Mathews – OLB– USC– Clay Mathews has steadily been climbing draft boards due to his athletic abilities, instincts rushing the passer and impressive blood lines. The Pats recently traded away Mike Vrabel who had become a liability in coverage and struggled to pressure QBs. Clay brings all those qualities and more to the Pats defense combined with an elite level work ethic the Pats crave.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- Tyson Jackson

    24. Atlanta Falcons - Brandon Pettigrew – TE – Oklahoma State – Pettigrew is one of the most well rounded players at his position in the draft. He is a devastating run blocker, has good but not great speed and catches the ball well. He also gives the QB a very big target to throw to at 6’6 260. The Falcons currently don’t have a threat at the TE position and the dual threat Pettigrew provides should fit nicely with what the Falcons like to do on offense.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- No Change

    25. Miami Dolphins – Larry English – DE/OLB – Northern Illinois – Larry English made a case for himself at Senior Bowl week and he looks to have secured himself a spot in the first round. The Dolphins need a pass rusher opposite Joey Porter and that's exactly what English will provide.

Previous pick in 1.1-- No Change

    26. Baltimore Ravens – Darius Butler – CB – Connecticut – Butler is one of the top cover guys in the draft which you have to be to play in the Baltimore defense. He has all the tools to be a top CB in the league and the Ravens are returning aging corners Chris McAllister and Samari Rolle. McCallister is also coming off season ending injury so adding a CB like Butler will give them a shut down corner and youth in the secondary.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- No Change

    27. Indianapolis Colts – Brian Robiskie – WR – Ohio State – Robiskie is not a burner but he is one of the most NFL ready receivers in the draft. He brings nice size at 6'3 210, great hands and above all precise route running which is what made him successful in college. The Colts selected Anthony Gonzalez from Ohio State 2 years ago and will be comfortable going back there again.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- No Change

    28. Philadelphia Eagles – Knowshowne Moreno – RB – Georgia – A steal here for the Eagles as they get arguably the top RB in the draft at the end of round 1. Moreno possesses all the tools to be an all-around back in the Eagles offense and should allow the Eagles to run the ball more often between him and Westbrook. The Eagles offense struggles when Westbrook goes down so Moreno also provides a solid insurance policy.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- No Change

    29. New York Giants – Brian Cushing – OLB – USC – Brian Cushing is one of the most versatile LBs in the draft. He can play all 3 positions for any defense and to it well. He is solid in coverage, can shed blockers and avoid trash and can also rush the passer when asked to. Brian combines those skills with great instincts and a passion for the game. This is a huge upgrade for the Giants who currently have Danny Clark, Bryan Kehl, and Gerris Wilkinson as their OLB options.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- Clay Mathews

    30. Tennessee Titans – Duke Robinson - OG – Oklahoma – Duke is probably the most powerful offensive lineman in the draft aside from Andre Smith. In the run game he creates massive holes and although critics said he struggled in pass protection against Florida in the Championship game that is not a commonality in his game. Tennessee improves their strength even more by adding Duke and will continue to grind games out on the ground.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- No Change

    31. Arizona Cardinals - Fili Moala – DE/DT – USC – A big part of the USC defense Moala can collapse the pocket in the run game and can rush the passer from the interior. In Arizona’s defense Moala would be a DE playing the 5-technique which should play right into his skill set. This is a steal for the Cardinals who need another presence on their DL that can stuff the run.

Previous pick in 1.1 -- No Change

    32. Pittsburgh Steelers – Percy Harvin – WR – Florida – OL was a consideration here but Harvin has too much value to pass up at the end of the first round. Harvin would take Nate Washington's spot in the slot and do much more with it than Nate did. With Bruce Ariens calling plays for the Steelers Harvin will play a big role in the Pittsburgh attack. Imagine all the screens

Previous pick in 1.1 -- Max Unger

    Round 2.

    33. Detroit Lions - James Laurinitis - MLB - Ohio State - Many probably wonder why Laurenitis falls this far and its mainly due to the lack of physical presence. Laurenitis has great instincts and ability to diagnose plays is a hard worker and has good but not great coverage skills.

    34. New England Patriots - Jamon Meredith - OT - South Carolina - The Pats have a solid offensive line in general but they were exposed in the Super Bowl and it carried on into 2008. Cassel was sacked often and they will make it a priority to make sure Brady is untouched in 09. Meredith is an athletic OT with great feet and pass pro skills. He is not a powerful run blocker but the Patriots are more concerned with pass protection at this point. Matt Light is now 30 and I doubt the Pats will resign him to the contract he will demand when its due. Meredith can easily slide over to LT at that point.

    35. St. Louis Rams - Eben Britton - OT- Arizona - Some may question why I have Britton going after Meredith and the answer is simple. Meredith is more athletic and has longer arms more suited for the LT spot. Britton however is no slouch and his production in college and physical style of play is proof that he can handle the LT duties in the NFL. This would be considered a steal by many.

    36. Cleveland Browns - Connor Barwin - OLB/DE - Cincinnati - Connor Barwin lit up the combine in pretty much every event but that is not the only reason he has established himself as a first day pick. A converted TE Barwin posted 11 sacks as a DE for Cincinnati using speed, power and a relentless motor to get to QBs. Mangini needs this type of player on his defense to replace the wily Willie McGinest.

    37. Seattle Seahawks - Sean Smith - CB - Utah - Sean Smith is one of the most intriguing prospects in the entire draft. At 6'4 210 he runs a sub 4.5 40 and combines that with great change of direction and the ability to shut down one side of the field. The Hawks were not impressed with Kelly Jennings last year and may feel he would serve them better in the slot. It has become a 3 corner league anyways.

    38. Cincinnati Bengals - Lawrence Sidbury - DE - Richmond - The Bengals have been starving for a pass rush for a long time that can help out their young secondary. Sidbury was the fastest DE in the draft running a 4.64 40 and showing that he can be stout at the point of attack with a 6'2 266 pound frame. Sidbury draws comparisons to Dwight Freeney and with solid coaching has all the tools to have a similar impact.

    39. Jacksonville Jaguars - Donald Brown - RB - Connecticut - Donald Brown may not be a huge need for Jacksonville but the value he represents at this point in the draft is too good to pass up. Although they have MJD, Jacksonville would not be the same without 2 workhorse RBs in their backfield. Brown possesses all the skills you need in a RB and will be a solid compliment to MJD.

    40. Oakland Raiders - Darius Heyward-Bey - WR - Maryland - Al Davis loves speed and DHB has exactly that and more. He ran the 40 in 4.3 seconds at the combine and im sure Al had his name highlighted at .04 seconds later. DHB can start day one for the silver and black since the competition at WR is fairly thin and Jamarcus is in desperate need of a go to guy.

    41. Green Bay Packers - Michael Johnson - DE/OLB - Georgia Tech - All the potential in the world but the question scouts ask is whether or not he can put it together. Although he had decent production at Tech some say he had a motor that ran cold too often. What can't be denied is his athleticism and speed. He was clocked at 4.49 at his pro-day and has great agility and leaping ability. MJ can be a perfect fit in the hybrid defense the Pack will be running with new DC Dom Capers.

    42. Buffalo Bills - Shawn Nelson - TE - Southern Mississippi - The Bills have been trying to add a playmaking TE into the offense for some time now and have failed. The traditional TE the Bills have been searching for is very hard to find especially since most college offenses use the TE as a receiver. Nelson has great height (6'5), speed (4.56) and weight at (250) and has incredibly soft hands and the ability to catch the football anywhere on the field. What scouts loved about Nelson was his willingness to block which he displayed at the senior bowl giving some of the top LBs in the country a hard time. That may have convinced the Bills he is capable of becoming a well rounded TE at the next level.

    43. San Francisco 49ers - Kenny Britt - WR - Rutgers - San Fran has been looking for a #1 WR for several years now and might just find that in Kenny Britt. He is not a burner but Britt is a physical WR with the size to match at 6'3 220. Britt can work the middle of the field better than most in the WR class and boasts 34 inch arms which gives him a very wide receiving radius and an easy target for QBs.

    44. Miami Dolphins - Alphonso Smith - CB - Wake Forest - The Dolphins can really use a solid cover man opposite Will Allen and Alphonso Smith falls into their laps at 44. Smith is a great athlete, with great hips, ball skills, and will not shy away from making tackles all over the field. This is another steal pick in the second round.

    45. New York Giants - Hakeem Nicks - WR - North Carolina - Nicks is one of the most NFL ready WRs in the draft. Has great hands and runs great routes. Not a burner or a great open field runner but very intelligent and tough receiver who will make the catch in traffic or on the edge.

    46. Houston Texans - Ron Brace - DT - Boston College - Brace is the strongest DT in this class. He is almost impossible to move off the line and will give the Texans run defense all by himself. The Texans have been weak up the middle since they came into the league but Brace will rectify the situation. Teaming up with Amobi Okoye will give the Texans a stuffer and a penetrator in the middle of their line.

    47. New England Patriots - Patrick Chung - SS - Oregon - The Pats wont have Rodney Harrison making the hits for them in the backfield next year so they select Chung here to fill the void. Chung is tough, strong, reliable and possesses great athletic ability. He has great instincts in the pass and run game and covers a lot of ground.

    48. Denver Broncos - DJ Moore - CB - Vanderbilt - Moore is an exceptional athlete with great cover skills. He has fluid hips and stays with receivers downfield. He also has great footwork and a knack for making plays after collecting 6 INTs in 08. Denver struggled in their secondary last year so Moore will be given every opportunity to start year 1.

    49. Chicago Bears - Jarron Gilbert - DE/DT - San Jose State - Gilbert is another one of the more intriguing prospects in the draft. He is very quick off the snap and has great burst for a man that stands 6'5 290. Jarron shot up draft boards over the last few months and although many see him as a late first round prospect I think at the end of the day his potential will carry him only as high as the 49th pick to Chicago. The Bears have struggled on the DL to generate pressure and to control the run game. Gilbert can play DE on running downs and then kick in to DE on passing downs where he can bring pressure on QBs from the interior.

    50. Cleveland Browns - Alex Mack - OC - California - The Browns aren't in desperate need of a C but with the top C in the draft still available its too much to resist. Hank Fraley is getting up in age so Mack could either step in right away or start next year. Mack brings smarts, technique and athleticism as well as good strength and a knack for using leverage very well.

    51. Dallas Cowboys - Louis Delmas - FS - Western Michigan - The Cowboys Achilles Heel on defense over the last few seasons has been their 2 safety spots. Roy Williams was a liability in coverage and Hamlin was not any better last year. Delmas brings speed, athleticism, and playmaking to the back end of the Cowboys defense which should solidify their pass coverage and run defense.

    52. New York Jets - Juaquin Iglesias - WR - Oklahoma - Iglesias is an elusive receiver that makes plays all over the field with speed and solid route running as well as great hands. At 6'1 210 he is a pretty big target which will help in the development of Josh Freeman. The loss of Coles makes this pick a no-brainer.

    53. Philadelphia Eagles - Jared Cook - TE - South Carolina - The Eagles let LJ Smith walk in FA so adding Cook makes perfect sense for the Eagles at this point in the draft. Cook is the best athlete of all the TEs in the draft and combines that with excellent hands. He is a match up nightmare for DCs but will need to learn the blocking aspect of the game to fully maximize his potential.

    54. Minnesota Vikings - Eric Wood - OC - Louisville - Its the point in the draft where interior linemen tend to come off the board and the Vikings get a steal here with Wood. Wood is not overly athletic but he is a punishing run blocker which the Vikings will welcome in their run game. Adrian Peterson will have a good time running behind Wood and the loss of Birk will go unnoticed.

    55. Atlanta Falcons - Evander Hood - DT - Missouri - Hood might have the quickest burst of any DT in the draft. He has quick feet and gets into the backfield quickly to pressure the QB. He is not the most stout DT but at 6'3 305 he can be coached to do whatever a DC asks for. The Falcons are very thin at DT so Hood will have plenty of opportunities to contribute early.

    56. Miami Dolphins - Cornelius Ingram - TE - Florida - Ingram is coming off knee surgery that ruined his 2008 season but he is healthy now and has shown that he has the same speed that made him a big time TE in college. Ingram has incredible athleticism and nice size to boot as well as great hands. He also has good blocking skills that will come in handy in Miami's run first attack. The Dolphins currently have Fasano and Martin on the roster but Ingram is a completely different cat than those 2 and will give Pennington a threat that can break the seem.

    57. Baltimore Ravens Clint Sintim - OLB/DE- Virgina - A steal here for the Ravens getting Sintim this late in the second round. Sintim is a typical 3-4 edge rusher that is stout on the edge and can also blitz and rush the passer. Sintim played in a 3-4 in college for HC Al Groh so his learning curve will be short.

    58. New England Patriots Lesean McCoy - RB - Pittsburgh - McCoy has all the tools you look for in a RB. Good speed, vision, elusiveness, and even packs good power and strength into his 5'11, 206 pound frame. The Pats currently have Fred Taylor and Lawrence Maroney on the roster but both players have injury history. McCoy is the future at RB for the Pats.

    59. Carolina Panthers - Max Unger - OC/OG - Oregon - Unger gives the Panthers the versatility to play anywhere on the OL and after losing Geoff Hangartner in FA who provided that versatility for them last year Unger will have the chance to make significant contributions in 09. The Panthers currently have decent starters at G in Keydrick Vincent and Travelle Wharton but they are not locked in by any stretch. Unger will have an opportunity there to steal a starting spot.

    60. New York Giants Rashad Jennings - RB - Liberty - Jennings is one of the most powerful backs in the draft and the Giants will use him to spell Brandon Jacobs and keep him healthy for the playoffs.

    61. Indianapolis Colts - Jonathan Luigs - OG/OC - Arkansas - Typical Colts interior lineman. Athletic, good on the move, gets to the second level and has great awareness. The Colts had injury troubles on the line last year so Luigs will offer competition as a starter and great depth if needed.

    62. Tennessee Titans - Kenny Mckinley - WR - South Carolina - Mckinley is kind of an under the radar prospect. He had great production in college with 207 receptions, 2781 yards and 19 TDs. Mckinley runs great routes, has great hands and was one of the fastest at the combine with a 4.44 40 time and has good size at 6'0" 190.

    63. Arizona Cardinals - David Veikune - DE/OLB - Hawaii - Veikune can be a perfect fit in the Cardinals hybrid defense. He brings speed off the edge and the attitude and strength to battle in the run game at the line. He is also capable in space which makes him even more attractive as a 3-4 OLB prospect. The Cards will need pass rushers to make their defense work and Veikune has proven he can get to QBs with 9 sacks in his senior season and 4 forced fumbles.

    64. Pittsburgh Steelers - Phil Loadholt - OT - Oklahoma - The Steelers love big linemen that can move well and Loadholt embodies that description. At 6'8 340 Loadholt is powerful as they come and can also hold his own in pass protection. He is not an ideal fit at LT but at RT he can dominate for the Steelers.

    Re: Mock Draft 2.0

Make the pick Brown instead of Ayers and I would be happy.
