I was looking around at the different articles and this little blurb just bugged the hell out of me.

Initially, one source close to the Eagles said, Buffalo considered making the trade for a first- and third-rounder this year but, in the end, held out for three draft picks to give the Bills more flexibility.

That doesn't make any sense. A fourth and a sixth is better than a third?

I read that and had to scratch my head...that doesn't make any sense.

Cher there is no telling if the blurb had any credibility what so ever.

I think that bag of magic beans put the 4th and 6th over the top.

well with the number of holes they created this year and the inability to guarantee any pick will be good, the bills have to go with quantity over quality. They don't have faith in themselves to pick a good player, so they'd rather have more shots to get it right. Can't blame them for that logic.

In our mind it is...maybe it's because a 4th is cheaper to pay than a 3rd.... :idunno:

No it doesn't make sense at all. But if you go back thru our drafts....we suck in the 3rd round and actually do well in the 4th round. Maybe that has something to do with it.... :idunno:

Ha, ha...that's funny. No, what I'm thinking is that that may have a need for that extra 4th...maybe trading for a certain TE in Denver?

Hmmmm....the way it's worded (give the Bills more flexibility) makes a lot of sense if we are looking to trade for a TE or G.... Hmmm.....

Exactly my thoughts when I read it. We will see...got to admit this has been an exciting offseason.

The only way it makes sense is if the the trade were for #28 this year and a 3rd in 2010... If that's the case, Buffalo did well to get this years 4th and a late rounder in 2010.

The 2010 pick is conditional. Wait until we see the condition. I bet the Bills feel it could get a lot higher than the base 6 round pick

Would you give up #11 and a 4th for the Chiefs Branden Waters( I think that was the guy that was talked about before)?

no to Brandon Albert and no to Brian Waters.

I doubt that the conditional pick will go excessively high, maybe up to a 4th rounder from the 6th starting point, but the value just about equates, and I can understand the reasoning of getting an extra pick next year to start with.
You would have to think that the Bills are going to look to make some moves in this draft with their lower picks (4ths down) to move upwards to get a targeted player or two.

well when McNabb continues to get sack from the left side and looks up and see's peters looking at him like oops, it'll end up being a 7th rnd pick

I hope the Bills told the Eagles that Madden 08 gave Peters a '99"

That was a 99 in being a fat lump of **** though.

This can't be true. It would be like if we could have traded Dockery and forgot to get the paperwork in. Or agreed to not to franchise Clements.

No wonder Mitchell didn't like the trade.

a lot of people seem to base their assumptions that every pick you make pans out and a 3rd round guy will automatically be better than a 4th rounder

Mitchell55

The 6th is a conditional pick. We could get a 3rd for it in the end. So I think we were thinking that taking the chance was worth it.

Sounds like a convienent pro Eagles rumor that can never be confirmed.

Come on. We're all a little old for spoon feeding.

I'm not so sure tbh.
Although I'm not too keen on it only turning out to be a low round pick (if that is the case), I can certainly see the value of starting out with an extra 3rd to 4th rounder for next year.
It's worth it for the flexibility, not only next year for the draft, but also in FA if we want to make a trade somewhere.
We now have 9 picks this year, 6 of which are still in the first four rounds. The extra 4th rounder, might well serve as the necessary bait to trade up with someone to get a guy we have targeted in the 2nd or 3rd round, if need be.
