1) Solid Return, maybe could have been a hair better, but Peters contract demands lowered the value of him somewhat.
2) I see no reason to be afraid of a line that looks like this
Walker, Bell or other FA/draftee, Hangartner, Butler, Chambers
I just don't see what possible data or evidence you could point to that would suggest this line is destined to fail, though I acknowledge it could.
3) The deal allows the Bills tremendous flexibility on draft day.

The Bills not signing Pat Williams was cheap and dumb. He was playing at a top level and should have been resigned. The Bills not signing Peters was measured and reasoned and was the right move. In a what have you done for me lately league, and for that type of money, it would have been irresponsible to sign Peters to an extension. His play simply was not good enough and he forced the Bills to choose between a trade or the top money in the league. I think it would have been an easy choice for ANY NFL Gm.
