The 49ers are running their own version of "American Idol" at quarterback.
The next episode starts Saturday with the team's second three-day minicamp of the offseason.
Most know the contestants by now. Starter Jeff Garcia and primary backup Tim Rattay get a free pass to their roster spots.
That leaves rookie and local product Ken Dorsey competing with Brandon Doman and veteran Cade McNown.
"We have to make a decision at the end of this minicamp, in my opinion, as far as getting it down to four," Coach Dennis Erickson said by conference call Wednesday.
