Crazy, Crazy, Crazy.. Lets see Sunday (and I reserve to change my mind before I do my one and ONLY mock draft this Friday morning- will be linked from scout.com)

Four trades coming?!?!?!?

1- The Bills deal Roscoe Parrish to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a 4th round draft pick (#132)<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
2- Buffalo trades Chris Kelsay and a late round draft selection to the Denver Broncos in exchange for TE Tony Scheffler.<o:p></o:p>
3- Buffalo trades their fourth round draft pick (#110) and a conditional 2010 draft pick to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for guard Brian Waters. (of the three, I feel most strongly about this still)<o:p></o:p>
4- The first 10 picks of the draft go like this:<o:p></o:p>

6- With the 28th pick in the 2009 NFL draft, the Buffalo Bills roll the dice and select: DE Michael Johnson.<o:p></o:p>
7- The wheelin’ and dealing Bills make another trade. This time trading their second (42nd) and Philly’s fourth (121) to move up five spots with Cleveland. The Bills then select: Offensive tackle Gerald Cadogan, Penn St.<o:p></o:p>
8- With the 75th overall pick in round three, the Buffalo Bills select: Safety Chip Vaughn, Wake Forest.<o:p></o:p>
9- The Bills fourth round will be an interior offensive linemen.<o:p></o:p>

I think Parrish gets done with Pittsburgh for a 4th that could maybe be a 3rd based on production.

I don't think Kelsay ends up getting traded.

Waters for a 4th? I think it will be at least a 3rd for him.

Love the Maybin pick at #11. Hate the Michael Johnson pick. So, I'm taking it that Maybin, in your opinion, will be our new Sam LB and Johnson our pass rushing specialist?

And Pat, where is the Tight End?

1 project DE, 1 project OLB (which may not be a bad thing IF...) and WTF for a OT

Who the hell thinks Cadogan is worth trading up for... and if this is true then the run on T's was fierce in the 1st rd.

Well - I like the Parrish trade but how about trading him to the Cowboys. The Steelers are up against the cap and may not be able to afford him.

Take the fourth rounder and trade to the Broncos for Scheffler. They won't want Kelsay as they are going 3-4 I understand and he doesn't fit.

I don't think the Chiefs will trade Waters; its a storm in a tea cup. Instead the Bills sign the hard as nails Pete Kendall for one final lap round the track.

1a. Everette Brown before Maybin for me
1b. Michael Johnson!!! Whoah ... not for me, we need someone to upgrade over Ellison - James Laurinaitis
2. I like the Gerald Cadogan pick but I don't think we need to move up for him.
3. Sherrod Martin over Chip Vaughn at S but like the idea
4a Kraig Urbik as the interior lineman?

Using the picks we've not traded

4b. Dan Gronkowski, TE, a proper blocker to replace Schouman
5. Vaughn Martin DT, to get rid of the failed McCargo experiment
6. Tony Fiammatta FB, if we are genuine about using a Full Back

7. but I love the Drew Willy QB selection

Overall different personnel but similar ideas.

Tony Scheffler from the Broncos acquired in a trade.

There are other picks for Waters besides the 4th. WE'd give up a pick next year too.

I think IF and that's a big IF, the Bills do not go OT in round one, and they go DE they are going to try very hard to unload Kelsay. He will be easier to trade becuase the Bills already paid his 600K roster bonus.

yes about maybin, I'm in a very small minority, but I LOVE Michael Johnson. Put those two on the field on third downs and let them go after the QB, you'r talking a whole new defense.

and our tight end is Tony Scheffler, after a deal with Denver.

Money towards paying possible vet acquisitions like a Waters and/or a Scheffler.

I dont think so.. he's good enough to take a flyer on near end of the first round. watch a team like Pittsburgh jump all over him near end of round one.

we never know of course, but I think he's going to be a stud DE once his head is right.

That's a pretty bold prediction. I love PSU, but I'm not sure how this guy got so high on boards.

I'm also not a fan of getting Maybin and Johnson. I've never been a fan of Johnson, and Maybin just doesn't seem to fit us, imo. I could be wrong, but there's a lot of other prospects I'd like to get.

I'm a fan of all of the trades, though (except the moving up to get Cadogan). I also like the Vaughn pick...I think safety is more of a need than people think.

If all those trades happened I would **** my pants.

I live on campus right next to UB's stadium and have been to every game the past few years... Drew Willy is not making an NFL roster, let alone get drafted... He is too slow, and arm is too weak. He has reasonable stats only because of Roosevelt and Starks.

he is about the 8 - 10 best rated OT if he is not there at #42 then I would have to say at least 6 -7 T's were drafted in front of him.

Most reports have listed late 2nd rd and 3rd rd material...

Pat, is the acquisition of Waters and Scheffler based on what you really think will happen or just wishful thinking?

I'm trying to gauge the possibility of those things happening come draft day

Scheffler is wishful thinking. I have no idea, no sources, nothing. Just trying to do a little educated guessing. Denver doesnt need him anymore, and we need a TE. I'm sure Denver wants to stockpile draft picks for defense.

With Waters, I still stand by what I first reported in March. I know for CERTAIN the Bills are interested in Waters. Whether they pull off a trade for him (who by the way did himself no favors in KC by not showing up for some workouts) nobody knows, but I am 100% certain the bills are interested in him.

Kelsay and Parrish was going more by rumors already floating out there.

http://walterfootball.com/college/Buffalo_logo.gif Drew Willy, Buffalo - Scouting Report (http://walterfootball.com/scoutingreport2009dwilly.php)
Height: 6-3. Weight: 215.
Projected 40 Time: 4.87.
Combine 40 Time: DNP.
Hand Size: 9 3/4.
Projected Round (2009): 7.
12/20/08: Impressive. Had just 25 touchdowns to just five picks. Didn't even have to turn himself into an alien in the MAC Championship.

10/12/08: Doctor Wily... I mean Drew Willy has 12 touchdowns, three picks, a completion rate of 63.6 and a YPA of 7.9 as a senior. Strengths: Making Mega Man's life miserable. Weaknesses: Bubble Lead, Top Spin, Cement Shot.

I don't think he'll get drafted either , but would not be surprised if he doesn't get a training camp invite. I've had this same feeling for months ...It could be a PR mans dream, but that's about it.

not disputing what you're saying. Im just saying every single year, when you look after 3 round mock draft one after another, there is always a handful of players that are on those mocks, and they end up getting drafted 3-4 rounds later (Rufus Alexander, anyone?). Conversely, there are guys who are slotted much lower and end up going a full round or even more ahead of where the 'experts' mocked them.

I'm getting told that he is Top 40 draft pick material, and though I know nothing about him at all if we're being honest; I'm told the Bills are high on him about his off the field attitude (again, which I know nothing about)

He's so clean cut, he's the sort of guy you be happy to walk out with your daughter

Intelligent, charities etc

Also measured up much better at the combine, pro-day than people were expecting, to the point some feel he has the intelligence to overcome any lesser physical intangibles.

Willy is a relaxed QB and I have not seen him get too rattled he stays calm under duress and uses his feet to buy him time. His consistency at recognize the rush needs to be improved on, he is very good at seeing it but at times he holds the ball too long and gets lead feet in the pocket. I believe Willy has tremendous potential and could be a legitimate QB in the NFL.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Crazy, Crazy, Crazy.. Lets see Sunday (and I reserve to change my mind before I do my one and ONLY mock draft this Friday morning- will be linked from scout.com)

Four trades coming?!?!?!?

Anyway, for your entertainment value.. Discuss!

1. Detroit- Stafford, QB<o:p></o:p>
2. St. Louis- J. Smith, OT<o:p></o:p>
3. KC- A. Curry, LB<o:p></o:p>
4. Sea- E. Monroe, OT<o:p></o:p>
5. Clev- M. Crabtree, WR<o:p></o:p>
6. Cinci- A. Smith, OT<o:p></o:p>
7. Oakland- J. Maclin, WR<o:p></o:p>
8. Jets or Bucs (trade with Jags)- M. Sanchez, QB<o:p></o:p>
9. Green Bay: B. Naji, DT<o:p></o:p>
10. SF- B. Orakpo<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
5- With the 11th pick in the 2009 NFL draft, the Buffalo Bills select: LB/DE Aaron Maybin, Penn State.<o:p></o:p>
10- Last but not least, Drew Willy gets his NFL shot with the Buffalo Bills after the team takes him in the sixth round.<o:p></o:p>

Thanks Pat!! I really hope this plays out. Is this speculation or do you have some inside info on this stuff?

BTW, do you have any info about how Demetrius Bell is progressing? Does our FO picture him as a starter this year?? Any info on him would be greatly appreciated.

You're not the only one who loves Michael Johnson BTW... I hope like heck we draft him.

1 project DE, 1 project OLB (which may not be a bad thing IF...) and WTF for a OT

Who the hell thinks Cadogan is worth trading up for... and if this is true then the run on T's was fierce in the 1st rd.

Don't let em get to you man. I did and it's pointless. Everybody has an opinion, I think its way off, but hey they can dream right?

I hope you are right about Waters, Pat.

As good as he is, it is hard to imagine Pioli and Haley being at all happy that he went public with his request to be traded or released and skipping mini-camp. I don't think that they want to trade him, but I also don't think that they will want their youngsters to see a vet get away with thumbing his nose at the HC and FO. That being the case, they may be willing to discuss a deal. However, because Haley wants to win now, I don't know if a future pick will get it done. I think that it could end up being Parrish and, perhaps, a fourth.

With the Steelers pushing against the salary cap, I have a hard time seeing that deal getting done. But, I can see floating a rumor that they are interested as being part of getting a deal done with KC for Waters. (If KC thinks that Pittsburgh would be willing to give up a 3rd or 4th rounder, they may see getting Parrish and a 4th as being adequate compensation for Waters, who they probably want a 2nd or 3rd rounder for).

KC knows that Parrish would be a fit for them and that the Bills want Waters. So, I can see them being willing to make a deal with the Bills. The question is what else they can get from the Bills in addition to Parrish. The Bills now have an extra fourth. If that can't get it done, then, the Bills trade Parrish elsewhere and KC loses out on a guy who they know can help them. I can see something getting done.

The Scheffler deal, I don't know about. Denver is supposedly going over to a 3-4 and I don't see Kelsay being a fit for them. It may depend on how badly Scheffler wants out of Denver and who else may be willing to deal for him.

The Bills may be able to deal Kelsay, but I'm not sure that they are going to get much for him.

As to your draft:

I like Maybin and can see him being the pick if the Bills stay at # 11.

I do not see Michael Johnson being the pick at # 28. Barwin, maybe, but not Johnson. But, I do not see the Bills taking two DEs in this draft. Yes, Schobel is getting old and has an injury issue. But, they will still have Denney and M.Johnson. And, Chris Ellis is likely to be ready to see some playing time this season--they used a high pick on him and have to find out what he can do, they are not going to cut him after just one season! A rookie pass rusher and Ellis replace Kelsay in their DE rotation, with the rookie being groomed to take over from Schobel. There isn't room in the rotation for two # 1 picks at the position.

I do not see the Bills passing on either Mack or Cook to take Johnson at # 28. If they trade for Scheffler, taking Cook is a moot point, but they still won't pass up the chance to pick up help for their offensive line to take Johnson there. Apparently there are a number of teams looking to pick up a TE early in Round 2, including Miami, and the Jets are talking about taking Pettigrew if the WR they want isn't there (which would mean Atlanta would be looking at Cook with their pick). If the Bills don't get Scheffler in a trade, they may have to use the # 28 pick to take a TE, if they want one of the top three.

Cadogan is a solid pick, but I don't know that they will have to trade up to get him. Britten and Beatty are perhaps higher rated right now, but, given the needs and interests of some of the other teams picking between # 28 and # 42, one of the three (Britten, Cadogan or Beatty) is likely to still be on the board at # 42. If not, Mack (who won't) or Ungar or Wood--all of whom can play at OG and/or OT--will fall to them.

Chip Vaughn or the safety from Clemson are both solid possibilities with the 75th pick, although I'm not particularly a fan of either. I wouldn't be shocked if the Bills took one of them, although I hope that they will go in a different direction with that pick.

I know a lot of people won't like me saying this, but I don't think that the Bills will draft Drew Willy. I think that they are quite happy with Hamdan, who is Edwards' best friend on the team, being the # 3 QB and they just signed Fitzpatrick to be the # 2 QB. They will bring in a QB to work in training camp because you really need to have a fourth QB then, but he probably be a UDFA who may not even make the PS.

Finally, do not be shocked if the Bills use a relatively high mid-to-late round pick--anywhere from the 4th round to the 6th round--to select a basketball player! The Bills have gone to workouts by two different basketball players--one from Cleveland St. and the other from Arizona--who have been looked at as possible TE prospects. The kid from Cleveland St. has drawn a lot of interest and may go in one of the rounds I have named.

The Bills may not take two DEs in this draft, but don't be surprised if they take two TEs if they do not trade for Scheffler. With Fine, Schouman and Stupar, the Bills have only three TEs on the roster. They need to carry at least five for training camp, preferably more. At least one will come on Draft Day, very likely two.

While I don't agree with everything that you said, I'm very glad that you are posting, Pat. If you get any info from your sources, I hope that you will post what you get here--even if it doesn't work out.
