    Mock Draft Rating System

I posted this in the Scouting Zone, but no one really visits there. Here's the link if you want to read the longer explanation of this:

OK, so this is going to be a little long, but I think a lot of people who visit this forum should be interested in this. For a while, I've thought there should be some way to objectively rank each draft analyst based on their mock draft. There would be many factors, like some of the following: how many picks they got exactly

Basically, I'm working on statistically rating the NFL draft analysts. I'm hoping to eventually include several factors (how many picks did they get exactly right, for example), but for now I'm judging them based on where they predicted a player to be drafted, and where they were actually drafted.

For example, if Mike Mayock predicted Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to go to us in the first round last year (pick 11), and he actually went to Arizona (pick 16), then Mayock gets a score of 5 (= 16 - 11) for that pick. I've done that for every pick in the first round last year, and averaged the scores of most major draftniks (Kiper, Mayock, McShay).

I'm hoping you can help me in several ways:
    1) I don't have ESPN Insider. So if someone could either email me Kiper and McShay's mock drafts (as many rounds as you can put into a text file, or Word document), or if you could just post it in this thread, I can get it later.

    2) I'm hoping to be able to compare our own scores for our mock drafts to the experts. So if you feel like it, put your picks in a text file and send it to me.

My email is in the other thread (Scouting Zone), or PM me to ask.

Unfortunately I won't be around this weekend, but I will get to follow the draft (helping my sister and brother-in-law move).

Hopefully some of you are interested in this. I think it would be good to see how accurate the "experts" are, especially compared to normal fans and maybe some of the websites.

I think it should be pursued. I also beleive it will be a very highly used tool instantly. There are so many mock drafts out there, and no one is tracking it.

Make it a Billszone project... or go solo... they have the webspace, and I bet the farm it generates the hits. The best part is the last 5 years of many "expert" mock drafts are still filed online, so instant data for the big guys would be generated immediately.

I'm pretty good with spread sheets and stuff.... Time dedication might be a small issue... summertime ya know...

I was also thinking along with tracking how many they get correct... but also the percentage of how many they picked too early and how many they picked too late.

the best way to pursue this however is too have a database/spftware set up so that it auto calculates everything. Otherwise there will be a tremndous amount of time necessary calulating out each mock

Could anyone post the full first and second rounds of McShay and Kiper's mocks?
