View Full Version : Why such a late start for the draft?

In the chat today, Chris Brown doesn't think the 2nd round will be over until late. This just pisses me off, because I like staying up and watching the whole thing.

It is ****ing stupid! The East Coast gets screwed again!

Plus, how do they expect us to be up for the 3rd round on Sunday morning? Ridiculous! :fit:

It is so the meat of the draft can be in primetime. I am not sure his timing is right though.

ten minutes per pick in round 1 = 320 minutes. (5 1/2 hours)

7 minutes per pick in the 2nd = 224 minutes (3 3/4 hours)

Add the two and you get 9 1/4 hours. So that is 1:15 or so if every pick takes the max time.

Ralph is going to be pretty tired on Sunday morning.

he might be going in with a stale adult diaper so they better crank up the air conditioner in the War Room.

Mmm... err... uh... GOTT DAMN IT WHY ISN'T THE DRAFT ****ING HERE YET!?

Geez, I've already got my damn Ko Simpson shirt on (Don't judge me people), I'm throwin on the Lynch tomorrow (that sounded awful) and I've got a fridge full of Labatt, a freezer with a chilled bottle of Crown (per Bills pick), 50 wings, Atomic wing sauce mixed with Buffalo sauce, and an itchy trigger finger to order some Angelia's pizza.

People say it's 5 o'clock somewhere? It's Noon somewhere for me tomorrow.

Shaft the West Coast, let's start it at 11 AM EST.

I agree this format change really blows IMO... I was all for the reduction in time per pick, but the primetime time change is counter productive.

I bet they change it back after it fails this year. Most who spend the afternoon around the house watching the draft are going out at night, or have family night at the TV regardless IMO.

I don't give a S. I'll log on to the internet in the morning to see who the Bills drafted in round 2.

The draft is the most overhyped thing in sports.

................. And all this time I thought it was the Dallas Cowboys. Thanks cocamide!!

I like the the late start , I'd rather watch the first round at lunch rather then breakfast for a change. lol Sorry it's a west coast thing!

and yet so many enjoy it and look forward to it.

but moving it to primetime means the NFL is being consumed by the hype

I like the hype and excitement. I just don't have the absolute need to have to "watch" the 2nd round pick. Once the 1st round is over, they don't even stick to the team who's up next. And it becomes the same regurgitated stuff over and over.

I can't see it go past 11pm,many picks don't take the maximum time.
