Vaughn Martin of Western Ontario

6ft4, 334lbs, runs the 40 in 5.04, the 20yds shuttle in 4.31, and lifted 225lbs 33 times

He's very raw but could be a Demetrius Bell type on the DL

Unlike Andre Smith, there is a lack of mboobs and he looks like he's 290lbs

San Diego have been scouting him as a prospect behind Jamaal Williams NT

04/23/2009 - An interesting Canadian prospect in this draft is defensive lineman Vaughn Martin of the University of Western Ontario Mustangs. The 22-year-old left school with three years of eligibility remaining to declare for this year's NFL draft. Martin isn't eligible for the CFL Canadian college draft until 2011. At his pro day, the six-foot-three, 328-pound Martin bench-pressed 225 pounds 32 times and posted a 40-yard dash time of 5.04 seconds. Martin, 22, can return to Western if he's not drafted by an NFL club. But according to a published report he will pursue a career south of the border even if he's not drafted. - Globe and Mail, Canada 04/18/2009 - DT Vaughn Martin received a lot of attention as teams wrapped up their official visits from prospects. A raw 6-4, 330-pound prospect out of the University of Onterio, Martin has been timed in 4.97 seconds in the 40-yard dash and lifted 345 pounds 44 times. He has had known visits with Cleveland, Indianapolis and San Diego, and is now considered a potential mid-round pick.

With those numbers and that size, I'd bet some 3-4 team will take a flier on him in the 4th or 5th.

If he makes it to the 6th, depending on who else is there (and who we've picked up to that point), I certainly wouldn't mind grabbing him.

I think with our first 6 picks (at present) we draft for need and look for starters or those who can contibute straight off.

With the final 3 picks I would grab potential like Martin because I don't think we can expect any more than that.

i heard tim and pat talking about him this week on the radio. they were saying that the majority of players from canada lack strength like he has and that some team will take a chance late on him. they were saying probably 6th-7th round.
